As a prospect, many would claim not to worry about mocks and just concentrate on bball, but it would be hard not to. Lets face it, its exciting. Your dream was to play in the NBA and now its coming true, so naturally you would read the mocks to see where you sit. Even if you didn’t look, your entourage and family would be online looking for you. As a prospect you might even want to read about your strengths and weaknesses ( I know I would ).

At a guess, I would say this site, DX and Chad Ford would prob hold some value into worthy information about draft prospects, so they prob check out this website, but how many of them (or friends/family) would actually read this forum ?

I am a prospect for the 2021 NBA draft and I read the site. We didn’t say how highly rated did we?

I bet the top ones hear enough talk. But I bet the 2nd rounders are on here on the daily.

Side note: still looking for my name on a mock… Class of ’97 represent. Who needs a 6’4", 270 pound PF? I’m willing to play in 30 second increments, but unwilling to change my lifestyle, eating habits, or play defense. In retrospect, I’m basically Charles Barkley.

With social media being the forwfront of todays culture I would say every prospect has taken a glance aside from the odd exception. Some more often than others and not too many avid followers that are active e daily.

One guy that followed team forums was Terrence Ross. He made multiple letters to raptors fans throughout his career, one after he got bashed online for a terrible playoff perfoemance and one when he was traded just off the top. The raptorsrealgm forum is terrible. They lobbied to trade Derozan and still do, they think Casey should get fired today, JV should get 35 minutes per game and initially said the Ibaka trade was an L. I dont post there but do glance from time to time and Im sure thats how most prospects treat online forums.

I heard criticism on Markelle Fultz because he retweeted mock draft articles with him number 1 at the beginning of the year.

I don’t know for this site in particular but I would guess almost every NCAA prospects checks mock drafts regularly. Not necessarily a bad thing given it motivates you to play against a touted or just listed in the top 100 prospect when you are a fringe NBAer.

Not sure about euro/international prospects though, who have the luxury of an agent already and the right to talk directly with NBA teams and scouts. I would imagine some of them are only discussing draft stock with their agent.

I’ve trained and worked out High Major D1 players and future pro prospects. They all look at Mock drafts and the reports on their skill sets. Even Low Major D1 kids in the MAAC and NEC  track mock drafts even though they know they are not on them.  The kids that are on them or have a chance are always checking their stock. A kids life long dream is near. It’s nearly impossible to not be excited and paranoid at the same time.

also, i don’t mean 2 brag but…I’ve had profiles I’ve written on guys quoted probably 6 or 7 times by other sources who don’t realize they are spouting out the analysis of some snot-nosed kid in the middle of Indiana going to school for elementary education

They are fans of the gae same as all of us. They may not track it as closely but I bet they look at the main page/mock. So they prbly don’t comment like be do either.
