In my opinion,  he’s going to be the next head coach at Indiana. A lot of people I told that to think I’m nuts. They say that it’s a step down. Other than being in the middle of nowhere, I don’t see how Indiana is a step down. He can make 3+ million dollars a year, and he’ll get the coach and a better conference them in the PAC-12.

No way unless he gets fired. UCLA is one of the best jobs in basketball. As much as I’d like to see someone else at UCLA he’s not going anywhere.

Indiana is one of the best jobs as well.

Indiana was a great job. I recall Mark Few telling them to take a hike.

UCLA is THE best job without SKY HIGH expectations. Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina are the BEST jobs but they expect you to make the Final Four EVERY YEAR.

At UCLA they want to win but they don’t expect a title every year. Great location, great history, and you can recruit really, really well there.

Steve Alford can really build a dynasty there. Like what Coach K did/is doing at Duke.

They have returned to prominence and is one of the most fun teams to watch… or, at least, that’s what Bill Walton says.

What the fuck are you talking about? Ben Howland made three straight final fours, and in the year he was fired, won the conference.

Ben Howland’s issue was his recruiting of players from SoCal towards the end. Alford’s done a great job recruiting around the LA area, especially considering he got commits from the whole Ball family (even though you could argue they were going to come to UCLA regardless of who the coach was).

His ability to recruit Southern California died after he pulled Kendall Williams’ scholarship.

I believe Steve Alford will win an NCAA championship this year and will become a legend there.

Mark Few told UCLA no too though.

The move would make some sense for Alford. He was on the hot seat just last year and Lonzo Ball and this team has kind of saved him. But UCLA has shown that it doesn’t have a lot of patience or understanding for anything less than…well, I’m not even sure because Howland had them going to Final 4s for afew years.

If anything, a move to Indiana might buy him time. He has another bad year at UCLA, does he get on the hot seat again? I tend to think so. If he goes to Indiana, he’s rebuilding a program and he’d have a little more leash.

Its a longshot I assume but I could see it working if the stars aligned.
