high floorParticipantIt is SUPER easy to overreact to a single performance like Willie Cauley-Stein’s game last night against Denver, and get excited about his present & long term future. For those that haven’t seen the box scores today:
WCS: 29pts (career high), 10rebs, 1blk, 14/22FG’s in 35 minutes
For the glass half empty folks…. you could say that this was against an awful Denver defense. The Kings were more invested due to the emotions of Cousins being traded which led to the ball swinging from teammate to teammate better, that they were well rested due to the all-star break…. etc.
For the glass half full crew, you can point to the fact that he was creating buckets for himself (unassisted on 5 made FG’s). Also, he had 3 baskets that were greater than 10ft from the rim. He faced up, he put the ball on the floor, he finished through contact, and with both hands.
I’m quite intrigued to see how he performs against Charlotte and Minnesota. He has a clear path to minutes, and could be one of the biggest winners from the trade deadline.

OhCanada-ParticipantI watched the whole game ad I’m becoming a bit of a Kings fan since the trade. It was mostly bad defence by Denver to be honest and they weren’t really prepared to play. The Kings seemed rejuvenated and we’re playing with a fire Denver couldn’t match.
With that being said alot of WCS points came off of turnovers and sloppy defence although he did create his own offense a few times and allow his teammates to create offense for him as well. He had one play he worked his defender on the post and he looked alot like Cousins and he hit a jumper or two. He also wasn’t able to catch a few zip passes on dives to the rim likely because he wasn’t expecting them but that should improve as he is more featured in the offense.
After the game WCS got the post game intereview and he was asked what the biggest difference is with the team and he spoke about how the team trusts each other and believes the next man will hit that shot. This is a good young group of players I would defenitely suggest people tune in to a Kings game.
Skal was a beast in that game too.

BeastMode716ParticipantNot only do the Kings get a promising Rookie in Buddy Hield but they regain their own Lottery pick from the Bulls & now they get the Pelicans pick.
So it is as if they received 2 addition Lottery picks.
They get a chance to play WCS & Skal & other young players languishing on the bench. I LUV this trade for the Kings & when they add 2 more young players in a crazy deep Draft & most important they get a Fresh start in their Locker Room.

OhCanada-ParticipantThank you. Somebody with some sense. I’m on everybody’s hit list and quickly becoming the forum villain by supporting the Kings here.

earldaniel31ParticipantCHI still owns SAC’s pick if it falls out of the Top 10

A Lil EnglishParticipantI didn’t think Willie warranted a top 10 pick but the more I analysed him as an athlete in 2015 I thought he would be a someone who flourishes more in the league.
I hope he keeps it up and this isn’t something that was a result of being motivated for a short while after you know who left.
It may have been just the Nuggets but I don’t care.. many people have been raving about Jokic lately and the moves Cauley-Stein put on him for the and-1 in the 2nd Q was like seeing a beautiful lost art.

HitsterParticipantIronic that the Kings put up a really good performance post DMC trade. WCS had been playing a lot less minutes than last season up to the DMC trade but will obviously get increased playing time now.
If the Kings keep their own pick this year and the NOP pick comes over then they can add a couple of decent players and start the rebuild. Next year will be a good one to tank as they own their pick then before it goes to Philly in 2019. So they potentially have 3 first rounders in the next two drafts to do something. Plus they will have Gay and Afflalo as possible expiring deals next season if Gay opts in which can be used in trades. They have cap space so can take a salary dump or two and be 3rd teams in a trade and add extra picks that way.

RigelzParticipantYesterday he had a very poor game vs. Hornets. We must be cautious when evaluating these guys.
