What do you think about that placement? Luka Doncic talent is absolutely phenomenal – at the moment – Real Madrid leads Euroleague. Luka Doncic leads Madrid Real – he is the best player in Real already – scoring constantly most points and getting highest efficiency ratings per game and he is actually too young to get drafted THIS summer. The dude is 17.

Let me see: last game 16 points, 9 rb, 6 ast versus Vitoria (Andrea Bargnani, Shane Larkin, Roddy Beaubois, Chase Budinger and others). Game before that 17 pts + 3 rb + 1 ast versus EA7 (Mirsolav Radulijca, Zoran Dragic, Mantas Kalnietis, Jamel McLean etc.). 2 games before that almost triple-double: 10 points, 11 rb, 8 ast versus Tel Aviv (Colton Iverson, Quincy Miller, Andrew Goudelock, Victor Rudd, Sonny Weems) etc.

There can be a debate either DeAndre Ayton or perhaps Porter have better chances to be better at longshot, but basically should debate be either Doncic is nr1 pick or not.

Next season – being still too young to get drafted – he might be the most expensive player in Europe already.

He is an elite prospect although he may not be the same sort of explosive athlete that some of his peers in his draft year will be. He makes up for this with a very good basketball IQ for his age, an excellent skillset and an impressive build for someone still maturing.

His best case scenario is that he could be the next "great white hope" point forward, his mid level comparision would be a very good running mate for a star player, able to do the intangibles and still create his own shot, worse case scenario would be a good role playing starter/bench guy.

I think that whenever he declares he’ll be a top 5 pick.

I have heard his name before but not seen him play. If he is playing against those quality players at only 17 his future looks promising.

I will be keeping an eye on him for next years draft….

I just watched Doncic and was impressed. He handled a lot of the ball, he has a good IQ and is a good passer and shooter.

He is playing against grown men in a good league – Rudy Fernandez and Ant Randolph are teammates. vs Austin Daye.

I love this guy as a prospect. Right now he is a top 3 pick and plays against way better comp than Porter jr. and Ayton. Still want to see more of him but I wouldn’t have a problem with him going #1 overall.

For what it’s worth DX has him at #2, that said its way to early to get caught up in 2018 rankings.

Ayton, Porter, Bamba, Carter, Doncic.. These are all solid top tier players!

I’m pretty amazed at both how physically mature he is at his age, and also how smart he is about how he uses his body. He’s not super explosive but he knows how use his body to hang in the air just long enough to get his shot in the paint. He’s a really fun player to watch.

Doncic is not the best player in Real Madrid. For sure he is incredible player for his age, but stop with things that are clearly untrue. He is definitely not best player on his team.

He clearly is talented but precocity is not enough to guarantee a 1st overall selection, 2013-2014 Hezonja had similar to better per 36 numbers in the same league and in a similar top notch team, less minutes but still enough minutes to be rotation, and a similar physique. Hezonja appears to be a bust right now despite what he has shown in his ACB years.

Precocity is not particularily rare in Europe, especially with Eastern european whose passports and real age are always obscure, especially given ex-yougoslavia was at war during late 90s early 2000s, at the time he is supposed to be born. NBA teams are going to be cautious.

Before him, Ricky Rubio and Andrei Kirilenko were very precocious (even better early resumes) and despite good NBA careers/success you would not spend a top 3 pick on their careers.

He is not the star player yet in Real Madrid. If he becomes that by the 2018 draft, then yes, he should be in the conversation for #1, right now putting him high-lottery anywhere in the 4-10 range is not ridiculously low as some imply.

EX Yugoslavian wars started 91. finishig mostley in 95. , completley endend in 98. USA bombing Serbia because situation in Kosovo. Before Luka was born. In his Slovenia war lasted only 7 days. And he is son of well known basketball player in this region, there was no reason for him to have fake passport. In some parts of estern europe maybe there was cases with fake passport (few were in ex Yugoslavia, not latley), but you are not talking about jungle region, but one of the most traditional basketball regions in world that gave to world hall of famers, that won olympic and world medls and great players from relatily small population, together just bit over 20mil population.  To name a few who made a mark since NBA started import players from europe: Petrovic, Kukoc, Radja, Divac, Danilovic, Stojakovic, Nesterovic, Giricek, Pavlovic, Brezec, Rebraca, Jaric, Udrih, Nahbar, Pekovic, Tabak even bust named Milicic… and so on and on till today when you have Dragic, Bogdanovic, Saric, Jokic, Mirotic, Nurkic, Vucevic, Vujacic, Udrih, Zubac, Bender, Hezonja, Bjelica, Teletovic, Marjanovic, Rudez playing in NBA…Doncic is next in line of ex yugo basketball pool, for sure one of the most productive areas of basketball players

Hezonja at 17 was playing for Barcelona B, he was no where neer level of Doncic is now, not even his last season in Barca.

      Thank you for your ignorance

Doncic plays absolutely nothing at all like Magic and has an almost completely different skill set. Not even remotely similar players.
