This has been a very interesting NBA season for me. With the GSW superteam, King James defending his title, KG, Kobe and Duncan retired and Philly actually winning games Im loving the brand and defenitely sold. Although there is this one thing that seems to keep it from being perfect. The lack of genuine courage from alot of the NBAs leaders. It just seems to pop up every day and it makes me sick but it also makes me happy for what we have here in Toronto with Lowry and Derozan.

January was a rough month for alot of teams in the NBA and it was interesting to see how certain leaders dealt with this. Some leaders let thier play on the court do the talking. Some players chewed out players in the locker room, some used the media as a vessel and some likely used both. All I can say is if you are only using the media to call out your team you have got alot of work to do as a leader.

    Heres some examples.

Cleveland loses 6 of 8 games and Lebron went off saying the team needs help and its all Love, Kyrie and Lebron doing the lifting. He probably said something in the lockerroom first and then went out to the media although to me he jusy seems like a premadonna girl who is trying to save face and deflect the blame as not to hurt his legacy. Although he is the defending champion and the KING so I cant critique him too much. Just seems more like a queen in a league with no king to me.

The Bulls lose a tight game and when they head into the locker room vets and leaders Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade notice the younger players smiling and acting very casual as if nothing were wrong. They responded by airing out insults and cussing to the media complaining abouttheir teammates. Rondo then defended his teammates and took a shot at -Wade on social media for not practicing with the team. Funny that Rondo is the guy dubbed by the media as a bad teammate but in reality he is the only veteran on this team actually helping his youngins. Wade and Butler were held out of the starting lineup and Butler played like hot garbage. I lost some respect for Jimmy Buckets here. He’s getting a bit ahead of himself.

I’m not gonna say anything about Cousins.

When Toronto started their losing streak Derozan was asked some questions by reporters fishing for contreversy. He responded by saying “you can’t get through it if you.don’t go through it, simple as that” he continued “now is not to the time to panic a little bit of adversity never hurt”. When Toronto lost 5 games in a row Lowry was asked questions where he said “now is not a time for talking words are just words all that matters is on the court” about 5 times. Toronto held a player’s only meeting before their 16-point victory against Milwaukee tonightto snap the streak.

In preperation for a chippy matchup against the Celtics John Wall had his teammates dress in all black which seemed to.bring them together against a good Boston team whi they beat. Wall has always been knocked for his leadership skills and inability to coexist with Bradley Beal. With his leadership skills getting better and Otto Porters breakout year Washington looks like legitimate candidates to reach the Eastern Conference finals.

I think Paul George’s leadership has been up and down this season. He’s spent a lot of time complaining about the officials, said he wasn’t having fun and recently had issues with the fans booing them during a home game not too long ago. A lot of fans feel like he’s been more focused on marketing and hasn’t played hard consistently this season.

I like how he’s responded though. Three straight games scoring 30+ points & a gutsy win vs the Kings last night on the second night of a back to back.
