Orlando Magic. He is an immediate upgrade over Payton. Orlando has bigs and forwards that can shoot set jumpers with Ibaka, Vucevic, Green and Gordon. They also have wings that can shoot Fournier, Meeks, Hezonja and a great instant offense gaurd Augistin that can play with or backup Rondo. Orlando currently has no ball dominant player or player that can create offense and no emotional leader/vocal leader. Also Vogel seems to have a great history with confrantational players in the past. I think its a great fit.

But I would be sooooooooo pissed if Orlando signed Rondo. This team is so offensively challenged that adding a PG with Rondo’s weaknesses would be just as bad as Payton running the show on that side of the ball.

I’m just not a fan of Rondo the player, or Rondo the teammate. When MCW is clearly a better option for the team, your days of being a top 25 point guard in the league are over

Adding another terrible shooter to the mix isn’t the answer. Payton has actually had some pretty good moments this year.

I dont think you can be a starting PG and be a guy that has had a few good moments. A starting PG needs to be great every game for your team to compete in this league. This team would knock down shots if Rondo was serving open looks on a platter. Rondo maybe a jerk and he maybe the most ball dominant player in the league but he can play and will get you open looks. He is defenitely better than Payton and MCW.

While I agree with your premise that ORL needs a player that is ball-dominant, I don’t think that player is Rondo. The Magic have one of the worst offences in the league, and are one of the bottom teams in pace. Bringing in a disgruntled PG who can’t shoot isn’t going to solve their problems. Rondo was only able to get away playing that walk it up and dribble all day in Boston because the team had so many other weapons. Orlando, not so much. Teams would just crowd the paint, and laugh as they watched serge Ibaka, the best shooter on the Magic, shoot threes all game.

The team he’d really fit with is New Orleans…I’m just not sure he’s a better player than Tim Frazier at this point in his career

Minnesota? He can’t be worse than Dunn. I’d take the bet. It’s actually a situation closer to Boston with a big 3 alongside him and his skills in theory at their best there.

If Chicago wants him out badly, you could try Rondo+ Chi pick/Sac pick for Dunn, possibly with other minor changes in favor of your bench.

Agreed. Rondo needs a championship culture to salvage his career. His days as a starting PG are over.

If Chicago just wants to get rid of him, Atlanta could take a stab at him. They’d probably want a stable veteran PG behind Schroder and they can throw over Splitter to fit salaries.

It’s funny that Dallas and Sacramento would make sense, but he’s already worn out his welcome in both places.

Why don’t teams understand that this guy thrives when surrounded by shooters. Paul Pierce was as clutch as they could get and Ray Allen was the best shooter in the league. Rondo’s a good defender. I wish his attitude wasn’t as bad. Then he’d be a great fit for San Antonio. Right now I’d say going to a team like Utah (top 10 3pt shooting) would be good for him. But ultimately he strives best next to knock down shooters.

I am going to throw a curve ball out there and suggest the Spurs as a good fit.  San Antonio needs some depth at the PG position and could use him as a facilitator since Parker is declining and Patty Mills is more of an undersized SG. A Danny Green for Rondo trade works financially and helps Chicago with their outside shooting.  Green seems to have peaked in SA and regressed the last 2 years.  A fresh start for both Rondo and Green could benefit both teams.

The Spurs would never give away Danny Green for Rondo. They probably would not have even 2+ years ago when he started to decline.

I was thinking that new 3 on 3 basketball league.  Great fit there.

Otherwise, he should be in the waiver wire veteran bargain bin with Mario Chalmers and Jarrett Jack.

Rondo is a locker room presence — but not the good kind.

Why not take a run at him again in Boston?

Isaiah Thomas is their borderline All Star at point guard but he is more of a shoot first-second-third kind of guy.  Marcus Smart is a combo guard as is Avery Bradley.

Well, if he hasn’t burned every bridge in Boston then that might be his last, best hope.

If he was ball dominant. Everyone would be more effective offensively. Mcdermont,Portis. Rondo does not run the PG spot there. He leads league in assist if given the ball. Offense is usually crisp and others get going. Right now Jimmy G Buckets and Wade dominate the ball yet are no where near the creators Rondo is. I guarantee if Rondo gets to play PG that team does better. AHe would fair better with better shooters though.

Rondo has found himself on the bench for the first time since his rookie year, despite leading the league in assists again last year, it looks as if his best days may well be behind him although he is still only 30 years old. This isn’t old for a pass first PG and many became better players after they turned 30 – Nash and Kidd, in the NBA currently Kyle Lowry is playing some of his best ball and he is only a month younger than Rondo.

Post Boston Rondo is now on his 3rd team and it is hard to see where he might fit in well. I agree that surround him with shooters and he’d be a good fit. But contenders often have a settled PG and younger teams might not see Rondo as a good presence to have around. Ironically a veteran creative player who plays good defence and has Championship expeerience and played with a lot of proven winners would seem a perfect fit for a younger team rebuilding.

Might the Nets be a possible destination for him, they will be in limbo until they get rid of the Boston trade pillaging and could absorb his salary.
