SlickBouncePassParticipantif you are drafting for teams, but still.
Why would Philly take Ball over Fultz? Ball is athletic and a good passer but we already have Simmons, and Fultz is by far the better scorer in his ability to score from anywhere on the court.
Also why would a team like Boston with Isiah Thomas and heavy on smaller guards, not take someone like Josh Jackson to play with Brown. Two of the most athletic defenders, and Jackson is a bonafide stud.
I get the Ball hype, but I see no reason why he goes ahead of Fultz and Jackson right now…regardless of what any site says.

BallerScriptParticipantI understand the arguement that having two ball dominant players (Ball and Simmons) doesn’t work but Ball doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective but can be very effective with it aswell if you understand me. Him and Fultz are 1a and 1b in my mind.
With Boston whoever they pick is a trade piece so picking Fultz or Jackson wasn’t something I thought hard about team fit wise.
Thanks for your feedback though man.

binetParticipantThis draft is too good to pick Ball #1.
Ball is a good prospect with high upside but he has a very very low floor and a very good chance to be a bust at the next level. There is a lot of hype going and UCLA team is surprisingly excellent, but that does not make him a sure thing. He is probably the top prospect in this class with the most question marks, with even his strengths like outside shot very questionnable due to form etc..He might deserve those Jason Kidd comparisons and be the best player down the road but you don’t risk a first pick or even a top 3 pick for him when you have at least 5 other guys with the same ridiculous upside and way less question marks.
And that is regardless of fit.
Right now imo he is not even the best freshman in his own team, TJ Leaf is. Interestingly, advanced stats agree with me with Leaf’s ORtg and Drtg both better than Ball’s by a little more than 1.5 pts . They are both better with the other on court yes, but advanced stats show that Ball is more Leaf dependant than the other way round. Leaf’s play of course does not project as well at the next level, with bigs in the NCAA considerably shorter, weaker and slower and an emphasis on Defense in the NBA.
Yes, Ball is a good player/prospect with one of the greatest vision we have seen in recent memory in College basketball, but he clearly is overhyped right now. He is not a top 3 pick in this draft.

Robb_CParticipantSmh.. Lonzo Ball is making Steve Alford look like coach of the year. Did you ever take it in consideration that maybe Lonzo Ball is making everyone around him better and not the other way around?

binetParticipantI did.
But I think that’s exactly where he is overhyped, the very fact TJ Leaf’s impact on the team (visible with advanced stats BPM, ORtg, DRtg… all better for Leaf) is bigger than Ball’s denies that in my opinion. Even with a 13 games sample.

Robb_CParticipantYa do me a favor, while you’re using metrics to build your argument.. Go look at everyone elses PER on UCLA and compare them from last season to now, everyone has vastly improved with Lonzo Ball running the point.
Sorry Bud, TJ Leaf is a baller.. But hes no where near as vauable as Lonzo Ball to this squad.

binetParticipantTJ Leaf is a freshman too.
Any team with its core players aging and an influx of freshmen that instantly include their two best players will improve in such a way.
Rewatch that Kentucky game. Ball clearly lost his individual matchup against Fox and the team was just as good when he was off the court. Leaf dominated. It’s just one game but the most significant when it comes to scouting because we all know Kentucky is the closest to NBA style you would face in College Bball.
I am not saying Ball is complete trash or a bad prospect. Just that he comes with way too many ‘ifs’ to be considered number 1 in this class. And probably not even top 3 given how talented this class is. I would probably still pick him over Leaf you know (team needs aside… I have Leaf higher than most though, higher than Markannen for sure for example.).

Robb_CParticipantYou continue to throw around cliche truisms.. Players improve because they get older? Explain to me how Steve Alfords kid PER dropped last year and rose up after Ball took over.. Also watch the UCLA vs Oregon game, look at how completely inefficient and out of place the team is when Lonzo is having a bad game.. TJ Leafs success is codependent on Lonzo not the other way around

r377ParticipantThanks for the share, would of taken you a few hours to do it.
Don’t worry about what ppl think. In years gone past, kids were creaming themselves over Skal, Mudiay, Shabazz, Perry Jones, Harrison twins and Austin rivers about this time of year and look how they turned out……

SlickBouncePassParticipantReally? Haha
You can’t put Mudiay and Austin Rivers in the same sentence,
not sure if Austin Rivers or Kevin Love is my least favorite player.
