holefillers1ParticipantI thought this guy was can’t miss. He is awful. I’m watching Nik Stauskas abuse him right now, on both ends. Sauce looks to be at least two inches taller and only two montga older than Hield. Galloway and Frazier are two college seniors on the same team that do more for his team than Buddy does. I was pretty sure this guy would suck so it feels good to be right. Anyone who liked this guy gets a one week suspension. P.S. I will be taking my week the next time Jamal Murray is named Rookie of the Month. So dont feel bad, no one’s perfect. Even the orange hat gets one wrong.

"I was pretty sure this guy would suck so it feels good to be right"
ughhhh what? in a span of a paragraph (if you can even call it that) you went from being a disappointed fan of buddy to being one of the original naysayers?!?!?!?!?!?one?!?!11?!?!
I get that your post is about buddy being bad, but this contradiction really bothers me

EndlessknightParticipantI was just bad punctuation. Should’ve been; “I thought this guy was can’t miss?” . He’s mocking all the people that said Buddy was a can’t miss prospect.

markfitz14ParticipantAs an older player coming in I did expect him to contribute right away. He needs to focus in on the defense. Let the offense come naturally. He can still bust out soon.

SlickBouncePassParticipantsame with "Sauce" — he don’t deserve a nickname —
Cousins basically told the Kings they were morons for picking this kid at 8, and his confidence was shot.
The problem is the league is young and 1 and done is so common, all the rookies come in and set high expectations, expecting to make a difference in a progressively younger league.
If they don’t, they start to fret, and their confidence is shot, which is especially important for shooters like Hield and Stauskas. And guys like Dunn who already was low on confidence which is why he stayed a year at Providence, gets stuck with a brainy demanding coach like Thibs, of course he’s gonna underperform, especially when media and fans are talking him up like he is the next Westbrook.
So essentially, players just gotta be more real with themselves. Not everyone is gonna come in and break out like Embiid, Murray, Booker etc.
Its gonna take time so keep working at your craft, and maybe that will help you calm down, slow the game down, and hit some shots.
Still too early to tell with Hield, but he’s a limited player.

ChoppyParticipantI’ve seen a double post (done a few too) and even a triple post. But this is the first time I’ve seen a quintuple post! Awesome achievement!

DolanCareParticipantBuddy has been bad, but I still believe he’s an NBA rotation player. He can shoot. Ignore the numbers of now. Four years of college comes with the benefit of knowing who the player is….
1) he’s a legit shooter. 2) He has enough athleticism, grit and basketball IQ to be a decent in-system defender. 3) He can put the ball on the deck enough to be more than just catch and shoot.
That’s at least an eighth man in the league.

Meditated StatesParticipantFull season to shoot over advanced length and quickness. Most shooters struggle year one. This kid is mainly a shooter not explosive scorer. Give him time. Was never sold on him as a early pick anyway. Not athletic enough or crafty enough with dribble to be a 22 a night guy. He is a 10 to 15 guy on a effective team.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI think you have to give him a little more time to get acclimated to the NBA. Just because he is a 4 yr college player doesn’t mean there isn’t an adjustment period. Buddy definitely has an outstanding work ethic and I have confidence that he will straighten things out eventually. If you remember, everyone said jj redick was a bust after his first couple years in the league and he turned out to have a very good career.

Arc12345ParticipantEveryone knows Buddy is more in the mold of JJ Redick than a Brad Beal/Ray Allen…not much more and not much less.
JJ really struggled to even get on the floor early in his career. He’s doing better than fine now, and I expect the same for Buddy. He’s a shooter, not much else. Take him for what you will.

Andrew1984ParticipantI thought Buddy was going to shoot the lights out this year, and I was incredibly wrong. But I’m going to be stubborn and insist that he is adjusting to the nuances of the NBA game, and will establish himself as a prolific scorer in his first 2-3 years.

Mr. 19134ParticipantCrazy this guy is playing like a rookie. Hields issue is clearly all confidence and playstyle adjustments. He has the talent, athleticism abd work ethic to get over it tho. At worse he projects to be a JR Smith Type.
He needs to become more aggressive attacking but the Pels tryna use him ad a spacer. He almost plats better witjout Davis
