I just like to hear some thoughts on Dominic Artis. After crashing his career at Oregon, it seems like he turns the page at UTEP.

Has been named Conference Player of the week. Good personal stats and it looks like he is now the leader he should have been on a more talented Oregon squad.

Are there any chances he can make it to the NBA (most likely as an undrafted free agent)? Or are there even chances he will get drafted?

    What do you guys think?

Dominic Artis is essentially a 5th year senior playing in a mediocre conference with no upside potential given his age and experience.  So you have to look at what he does now and realize what you see is probably what you will get.  Given his age and experience, he should be absolutely crushing his competition but he is not.  He’s not a great shooter, and although he has a 7 assist per game average, he also gives up 4.5 turnovers per game.  He shoots about 32% from 3 and for an NBA PG in this era, that isn’t very good… unless you are NBA level in distributing, taking care of the ball, and defense which he is not.  He is actually a good defender, and has become more efficient in his shooting, but for a 5th year senior you would expect that.  He falls into that huge category of good callege player, but he is not NBA caliber.

There is also the lawsuit against the University of Oregon, and the whole episode there.  That can’t help when NBA GMs are deciding who to use a draft pick on, or who to give a roster spot to.

You pretty much covered it here.. He has a pretty high usage rate and average efficiency. His FG percentage is higher than its been before but thats because hes picking his spots on offense, something he wont get away with in the pro.. only elite level athletes in the NBA are able to do this. I wouldnt take the risk on him, much better talent out there.. Id grade him a B Level D/League prospect.
