ChicagoCaseyParticipantI believe a Big Board is a much more accurate took in projecting draft prospects than a mock draft during the season. I would start doing mocks after the lottery.
1.) Markelle Fultz – I don’t really care if Washington does bad this season because Fultz been unbelievable. He’s my number one prospects due to him showing less weaknesses in his game than other prospects and his overall offensive package. He can get to the free throw line, play in the mid range, showed flashes of a post game, finish at the rim, create for others, and shoot the three. I know he have some weaknesses like decision making and defense, but those are easier to fix and his turnovers are no worry to me because most of it due to miscommunication and just stepping out of bounds,
2.) Josh Jackson – He don’t have eye popping stats, but he didn’t hurt his stock in November. Love his passing ability, defensive mindset, and athleticism. He didn’t make me drop him in my rankings.
3,) Lonzo Ball – He’s been unbelievable to start the season. He’s shown the ability to make an impact that goes beyond the stats and been unbelieveable in making this team great. His jumper has been good, I don’t have a problem with his release, been a great floor leader, and an unbelievable rebounder. I do have a problem with him handling the ball under pressure, that showed up against Fox, his in-between game, and his defense.
4.) Jonathan Isaac – His numbers don’t do him justice. He could easily average 22 points per game, but he’s not that aggressive and is taking a backseat to Bacon on offense. He measured in at 6’11" 210 pounds and can shoot the ball at a 44 percent clip from 3. To prove that he’s a 3 is that he must show that he can handle the ball for a player of his height. Also, he’s a very impressive rebounder for a freshman.
5.) Lauri Markkanen – He’s a pleasant surprise for me. I had him this high on my first big board, but I didn’t know he would be this good. He can take bigs off the dribble and he can shoot from anywhere on the court. Some people need to stop comparing him to Porzingis because he’s not the athlete. But, he’s an elite prospect.
6.) Dennis Smith – He’s not getting the buzz that Ball, Fox, and Fultz getting, but he’s been impressive at times this season. I didn’t like what I saw in the second half of the Illinois game, but I’m impressed with his playmaking and scoring ability. I wouldn’t put up with Fultz and Ball, but he’s still a great prospect.
7.) Harry Giles – I couldn’t knock Giles to far. He’s still an unbelievable prospect and woiuld be the second best prospect for me if he was healthy, he’s that good. The injuries are the only thing that’s knocking him. He can do it all on offense and have the athleticism and physical tools to be a top 5 PF in the league.
8.) Frank Ntililkina – I didn’t watch tons of games of him. I fell like this is a safe place to put him in.
9.) De’Aaron Fox – He’s really up and down to me. I see the talent, but I question his finishing ability and jumpshot. That’s a big reason why he’s not way higher than he is right now. IMO he outplayed Ball most of the game, but I’m not going to use one game to justify Fox>Ball. I like to look at overall skill set, athletic ability, and physical tools. Fox is probablt the quickest player that will enter and he’s one of the best playmakers.
10.) Malik Monk – He’s been the best player at Kentucky this year, not surprised. He’s an unbelieveable scorer and has shown elite athleticism throughout November and the UCLA game. The only reason why he’s not ahead of Fox is that he’s not showing no point guard skills and he only finished in the paint in the half court TWO times in November.
11.) OG Anumoby – He’s the best non freshman in this class. He’s shown it with his defense against Josh Jackson and his athleticism throughtout this season. He’s a perfect combo forward in todays NBA and he can guard all 4 positions. You can see Draymond Green, Paul Millsap, and Victor Oladipo. He’s the perfect role player in this draft.
12,) Jayson Tatum – I don’t love his game, I believe he’s to in love with the mid-range game. He can make it though. He have ideal physical tools for the 3 at standing near 6’9" and he have a gambler mindset, so he will rack up tons of steal. Kind of see some Derozan and Danny Granger in his game. Don’t see the upside as the other freshman on this list,
13.) Ivan Rabb – The second non-freshman on my list. He missed time, but he’s a proven talent. He’s a mid-lottery pick in other drafts, but he’s a late lottery talent in this draft. He have great physical tools, athletic ability, and a motor. You could say he was better than Jaylen Brown last season at Cal.
14.) T.J Leaf – He’s been super impressive. I didn’t know he had this much game to be a one and done player. I expected Tyler Lydon to be T.J Leaf this season and have the season like Leaf is. He shown an elite motor, good rebounding ability, being a capable shooter, and can block shots. He’s doing all of that while standing at 6’10" 225.
15.) Juwan Evans
16.) Robert Williams
17.) Bam Adebayo
18.) Miles Bridges
19.) Jarrett Allen
20.) Tyler Lydon
21.) Jonathan Jeane
22.) Jaron Blossomgame
23.) Edmund Sumner
24.) Shake Milton
25.) Alec Peters

RUDEBOY_Participantsaw tatum for the first time earlier today..that dude is gonna be top 10, no matter who else comes out…bam is gonna play his way into top 10 by season’s end…if robert williams polishs his offensive game and not disappear at times..he could move up..

binetParticipantI kind of agree on Bam but I think Tatum at this point can only hurt his stock. Kennard and Allen seem to be way better wing players right now, and even if they are older nba caliber guys, a star would easily overshadow them, funnily, even if he becomes their top wing player his stock is so high right now that it would not skyrocket. Duke also has such an amount of talent that anyhing but a final four should hurt his stock.

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantMonk played the point pretty well when Briscoe was out. I wish he had a chance to showcase his ablity more. Also it’s hard for him to drive on the college level since everything is so compact and he’s the only person the defense has to respect from the outside when Willis is sitting .. overall good list

vulture711ParticipantBecause at 6-3 NBA scouts are going to start knocking him as a two guard regardless of how atheletic or how well he shoots. Going to have to show combo guard skills.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantJonathan Givony
Jonathan Givony – Verified account @DraftExpressThink Jonathan Isaac could easily be averaging 22-23 points per game if he were being a little more aggressive. Wants to play the right way.

Plagiarizing givony or a coincidence that you said almost the exact same thing as him

ZachAttackParticipantThe only thing that’s similar is the point total, and his aggressiveness, the aggressiveness issue with Isaac is obvious he seems to play like he’s shy rather than like he’s the best player on that team, anybody could see that. And the point total, well, there’s only so many numbers that a player with his ability can average points wise, it’s just a coincidence that he said the same numbers.

Hype MachineWell spotted.
I’ve thought Chicago Casey plaigarises for a while now.
This proves it.
Its exactly what I mean about these Draft cats all just following each other. The lack of originality is sad, because none of them have the courage to think indepently.
And then try and take credit for it. Please.
One things for sure, you’ll never see the hype machine recycle another mans garbage.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantNot a critiscism, everyone is going to have their own opinions, but I think Jalen Adams, Dillon Brooks and Caleb Swanigan are underrated on a lot of boards.
I mentioned Adams on another thread about the top 5 PGs in the country. I think he’s absolutely electric. There’s a clip on youtube of some highlights from last year and this year his numbers are as good as anybody not named Markelle.
Swanigan might be a defensive liability at the next level and isn’t the athlete that teams place a premium on. But he’s strong, has a good all-around offensive game, is a very good rebounder (which always seems to translate well to the NBA), and has shown that he can improve his game and he’s just 19 years old. He might not be a lottery selection but I’d be surprised if he didn’t go in the first round.
Brooks is starting to get more playing time after recovering from foot surgery and should be improved from last year when he was seen as a first round talent. He is coming off a game where he scored 22 points in 13 minutes.

theballerwayParticipantBacon is being slept on like crazy. He has improved and is only a year older than Jackson if age is the issue? The 2 guard is one of the weakest spots in the league and this guy has pretty much what ever you want at that position

HitsterParticipantUsing other writers comments word for word isn’t great in my book, if you are basing some of your opinions on other people’s write ups then at least re-word it a bit.
It has often been said when we mock draft we follow the main draft sites ideas for if people do something totally different it always seems to not go down well.
Sometimes when I’ve been mock drafting, I’ve tried to flip places slightly as I think my mock looks too close to Aran’s main one on here.
But a fair early draft board from Chicago Casey.
Ivan Rabb I think will go higher in not a deep big man draft as some teams in top 12 or so will want a big and Rabb should be fairly NBA ready.
0- Posted on: Mon, 12/05/2016 - 12:52pm #1089143
binetParticipantIs Ivan Rabb the best big in the draft though? Would you draft Ivan Rabb knowing you could easily recruit Monroe or a 76ers big via trade and pick someone else?
For example Boston is likely to take a PF or C in the draft with their Brooklyn pick if there is not a clear cut superstar available when they pick. Do you think they’ll pick Rabb over Giles post-injury ?
I even think other bigs like Adebayo or Markannen have a big chance to be taken before Rabb eventually.
I think late lottery seems like a decent guess for him, higher means you think he is the best big hands down and that’s not the case.

bdiddy5115Participant1. Markelle Fultz | PG/SG | 6’4” 190 | Washington | Fr.
– I’m most confident about him becoming a superstar of all the talented guys in this draft. He fits the mold of a Harden/Westbrook lead-guard in that he might not be natural offense-orchestrator, but can be a high-level score/pass threat that can handle high-usage.
2. Dennis Smith Jr. | PG | 6’2” 195 | NC State | Fr. | 19
– Smith is in a slightly tougher spot than some of the other top prospects, as he’s a potentially elite P&R guy (in a P&R centric NBA) without any NBA level talent around him (with Yurtseven out). In addition, he’s still shaking off rust, and I think his J will come around soon. I have Fultz above him partly because he might not have defensive versatility (if his wingspan is as short as reported).
3. Josh Jackson | SF/SG | 6’8” 200 | Kansas | Fr.
– Not much to say, as Jackson has been the do-it-all guy we expected him to be thus far.
4. Jonathan Isaac | SF/PF | 6’11” 205 | Florida State | Fr.
– Isaac gets B.Ingram comparisons, and for good reason, but he might actually be smoother with better body-control at the same juncture. He isn’t quite the defender or doesn’t have the attention Ingram got at Duke, but he’s still very intriguing with his size, range/skill and positional versatility.
5. Lonzo Ball | PG | 6’6" 185 | UCLA | Fr.
– Super interesting blend of skills in a 6’6" frame. I have a few questions about how much he’ll be able to score at the next level, with his dependence on threes (his %s will eventually drop) and transition buckets on an uptempo team.
6. Jayson Tatum | SF | 6’8" 205 | Duke | Fr.
7. De’Aaron Fox | PG | 6’4” 175 | Kentucky | Fr.
– I think his J will start to drop a bit, or enough to give scouts some optimism. Love his transition-upside and defense.
8. Lauri Markkanen | PF/C | 7’0” 230 | Arizona | Fr.
9. Frank Ntilikina | PG | 6’5” 175 | France | Intl.
– Need to see more of him.
10. OG Anunoby | SF/PF | 6’9" 225 | Indiana | Soph.
– Lacks the star-power but is super intriguing as a defensive dynamo.
11. Harry Giles | PF/C | 6’11” 225 | Duke | Fr.
– Hard to rank but tearing both ACLs already is more than just a red-flag. Healthy Giles (will we ever see him again?) is top-2.
12. Ivan Rabb | PF | 6’10" 220 | California | Soph.
13. Miles Bridges | SF | 6’7” 230 | Michigan State | Fr.
14. Bam Adebayo | C/PF | 6’10” 255 | Kentucky | Fr.
15. Malik Monk | SG/PG | 6’4” 185 | Kentucky | Fr.
16. Frank Jackson | PG/SG | 6’3” 215 | Duke | Fr.
– Could be underrated, I think he could really thrive as an off-ball PG next to a Giannis/B.Simmons type.17. Jarrett Allen | C/PF | 6’11” 230 | Texas | Fr.
18. Jonathan Jeanne | C | 7’2” 210 | France | Intl.
19. Isaiah Hartenstein | PF | 6’11” 235 | Germany | Intl.
20. Jawun Evans | PG | 6’0” 195 | Oklahoma State | Soph.
– Even with his size, he’s too much of a gamer to drop.
21. Terrance Ferguson | SG/SF | 6’7” 180 | Australia | Intl.
22. Thomas Bryant | C/PF | 6’10” 245 | Indiana | Soph.
23. Omer Yurtseven | C/PF | 7’0” 230 | NC State | Fr.
– Waiting to see him on the floor with DSJ.
24. Rodions Kurucs | SF | 6’8” 195 | Latvia | Intl.
25. Dwayne Bacon | SF/SG | 6’7” 220 | Florida State | Soph.
26. Kostja Mushidi | SG | 6’5” 210 | Germany | Intl.
27. Jaron Blossomgame | SF | 6’7” 215 | Clemson | Sr.
28. Edmond Sumner | SG/PG | 6’5” 190 | Xavier | Soph.
29. Tyler Lydon | SF/PF | 6’9" 210 | Syracuse | Soph.
30. Jalen Adams | PG | 6’2" 190 | Connecticut | Soph.

Left out a few Freshman that would obviously be on otherwise (TJ Leaf, Marques Bolden etc), but I need to see more first.

binetParticipantI don’t think any team would take Jarrett Allen over an euro bet at Center. Most bigs successful in NBA were either taken high or very high lottery or are euros/internationals. The next Nurkic/Jokic/Gobert (Hartenstein? Jeanne? someone else idk) will probably be taken over him. Centers this year like last year (when bets on Yabusele,Zizic, Papagiannis and multiple other euros were made…) are viewed as a very bad crop and history has shown both euros success and that teams are drafting them aggressively (last year’s draft), Allen, Thomas Bryant are probably second rounders.
I think Allen might stay one more year in College though, just not to Skal Labissiere his career.
