Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantYoung kind of fits the description of a low ceiling guy for me. Great college player but only so so NBA prospect.
As with a lot of 4 year players, the major question with young is how much better can he actually get? He is a dominant player on the college level due to his superior strength and athleticism, but those qualities at the NBA level would only be average at best. Does he have enough of a skill set to make an impact beyond that? His ball-handling and outside shooting have improved considerably but still aren’t really at the level they need to be to function at the 3 position and he would clearly be somewhat undersized for the 4 spot. He doesn’t possess the length or quickness to be a plus defender.
I think he might be worth a late second round selection but he just doesn’t have the overall ceiling of some of the other prospects ahead of him. Of course, he could always prove me wrong.
