SubZeroParticipantApologies for the double post, but just wanted to share my thoughts.
July 4th, 2016 was the first bad 4th I’ve ever lived, and it was all because of KD. As someone who was born in OKC and was overjoyed when the Thunder moved in so I finally had a team to root for, Durant leaving was harder for me to deal with than when Kentucky went 38-0 and lost in the Final Four (I laid motionless on the floor for 30 minutes). From that day until yesterday, I was more pessimistic about the season than I ever have been. It seemed like all year would just be the warmup for the Cleveland-Golden State rematch.
However, the opening games have made me strangely (and cautiously) optimistic about this season, and even more so the future. It seems like this year, there aren’t near as many dreadfully bad and depressing teams as there have been in years past. Philly, Denver, Phoenix, Lakers, and a couple other teams might be bad this season, but their potential is evident and their futures look bright. Then you have teams like Minnesota who could very well take the next step to being a dynasty. Even a team like New Orleans has a transcendent talent on their team so it’s not like their stuck in the mud. The only teams that are kind of sad are Sacramento and Brooklyn, but even Brooklyn isn’t as hopeless as in years past thanks to a change in leadership and management.
Has anyone else had the same feeling, or do I just like this youth movement a little too much?

Hype MachineWatching that Philly fan get ejected made me optimistic.
He was so mad, I thought Westbrook had stolen his cheesesteak.

DolanCareParticipantNBA front offices are generally led by more capable, intelligent and forward-thinking figures compared to any other time in league history. No more Isaiah Thomas or Elgin Baylor types shaving off years of a franchise’s competitivness.
The only left overs from the previous era of ineptitide are Vlade Divac, the ghost of Billy King and I would argue Dell Demps. Which is why these teams are in the gutter.
