Lebron’s “Jordan” comments on pod-cast.

I didn’t hear it all but I heard a bit. Had me thinking..

Which statement has more shade

1. Blake Griffin would be a better choice in SpaceJam 2 

or

2. MJ’s teammates don’t get enough credit for the Bulls championship runs. 

MJ seems like more of the hater to me. 

 Phil Jackson always found two of the games best 3 point shooters, some guys who grabbed boards, and one or two of the best defenders in the league to surround Jordan or Kobe. He was spreading the floor before it was all the craze. There are a lot of players who could’ve succeeded in those roles, but not like Jordan or Kobe. If you replaced either with Melo, they don’t win it all. I think Cleveland pales in comparison to any of teams, so I agree with LeBron that Jordan had some better teams.

Why are top players commenting on who the best is? If you tell everyone you’re the greatest, people will resent you. He’s had a lot of championships, he should let others proclaim his greatness. 

Sounds like LeBron is trying to tug on MJ’s cape lol… He doesn’t really make sense though. MJ’s teammates have been given credit. Scottie Pippen is in the Hall of Fame and arguably recognized as a top 50 player. Dennis Rodman (34 when he joined the Bulls) is in the Hall of Fame and recognized as one of the best defenders and rebounders of all-time. Even other players like Horrace Grant, BJ Armstrong, John Paxson, Steve Kerr and Toni Kukoc are given credit for their roles. The Paxson and Kerr clutch three-point shots are shown over and over again when the highlights are shown. MJ himself has given his teammates credit. However, let’s look at some of MJ’s other teammates lol: 

Bill Cartwright, Will Perdue, Stacey King, Craig Hodges, Scott Williams, Corie Blount, Luc Longley, Bill Wennington, Dickey Simpkins, Jud Buecheler, 32 year old Ron Harper (way past his prime, but solid role player in the system), Randy Brown, Jason Caffey, Bison Dele and Scott Burrell. 

Point is, majority of these players wouldn’t have been what they were without MJ. You could’ve gotten other guys and put them in them in these roles and it wouldn’t have made a difference. You could put Mo Williams, Daniel Gibson, Delonte West, Zydrunas Illgauskas, Drew Gooden, Sasha Pavlovic, Larry Hughes, Anderson Verajao, Damon Jones, Donyell Marshall, etc in these roles too lol… And MJ would’ve delivered with those guys. 

I think a big key is that the Bulls had a *system*. MJ bought into a *system*. He wasn’t just iso balling and making his teammates specialists. They all had roles and felt involved. MJ had a *complete* and fundamentally/skilled game and you could put him in several spots on the floor (perimeter, low/mid/high post, elbows, etc, etc) to impact the game without him just playing hero ball. That’s just not LeBron. 

 Why would Jordan be obliged to like Lebron? (and viceversa)

 I really thought it was Lebron taking a shot at the Fiction writers in the Media, especially at espn, who try to make it sound like Jordan DID play 100% Iso – ball.

Jordan was a Basketball Genius & he almost Always made the correct basketball decision & I felt like That was Lebron’s whole point when he brought up Steve Kerr’s Finals winning 3 point shot in game 6 against Phoenix.

I could be wrong but that’s how I took Lebron’s remarks. Kind of a shot across the bow of people like Skip Bayless. Journalists who discovered they could get rich by tapping into that Lebron Hate & creating this myth that Jordan played 1 v 5.

 All the Great Championship winning players of the modern NBA – Bird, Magic, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Isaiah, Dr. J, Dwayne Wade, K.G., Dirk & Hakeem the Dream were true Basketball Chess Masters who empowered their teammates to step up b/c NBA basketball is a Team game.

  I don’t put Lebron ahead of Jordan, but a 3-1 comeback against a defending NBA Chanpion & a game 7 win on the Road is a Big deal & that puts Lebron in the company of Bird & Magic who are generally regarded as the best non-Center Super Stars of All Time who are right below Jordan as GOAT.
