So far hes lacking intensity and hes averaging 8ppg, 4rpg, and 1bpg

Compared to his 16, 10, and 4 in college

So far he has been non-effective, and isnt doing much, especially on the defensive end where hes supposed to be a dominant force

Everyone uses the excuse that hes a project, and there still developing him
But you dont draft a project with the 2nd overall pick, especially dont draft a project behind Blake Griffin

I still think he has serious potential, but as of right now, hes a bust…

    THOUGHTS?!?!

lmao, if he cant compete in Summer League against Saer Sene, Jordan Hill, BJ Mullens, and DJ White

What the hell is he gonna do vs Dwight Howard, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Amare, Yao, Garnett, Bosh, etc

I could care less if we lose in SL, 1st game he has an excuse of being nervous, but back 2 back FAIL games, hes a BUST

Im someone thats thinks Thabeet is going to be a bust, but it is just one or two summer league games. Im willing to wait until the season to call him a bust.

These summer league games aren’t always a telling tale of what’s in store for the upcoming season. I remember LeBron James wasn’t spectacular in these games. And last year, Jerryd Bayless looked like an instant star, but instead looked inconsistent his rookie year. Yeah, it’s going to take Thabeet awhile to get accustomed to things, but don’t be making conclusions already.

I think he is doing pretty good. He isn’t a bust. I think people have too high of expectations for him since he was the 2nd pick. He is purely a big defensive center that are pretty hard to find these days. At worst he becomes a very valuable backup to Gasol. Also if he ever learns to play with some intensity he could be special. He impacts the game in a lot of ways that won’t show up in the stats…people just can’t drive to the rim with him waiting

Derrick Rosse struggled mightily early in summer league last season. I guess he must have been a bust during his rookie year too, right?

I watched most of that Knicks-Grizzlies game earlier….. Jordan Hill didn’t look anything special either.

Or shot percentage to get a read on if he is effective or not.

I will not call him a bust though. Big men take longer to develop and thats known throughout the NBA. I do worry about his aggresivness though. He is not known for intensity and thats what you need to be a dominant defender. I will hold off on the Bust thing for now.

lol, Its a difference from peeking at the boxscore and watching the game

Thabeet looked confused, lost, had no intensity, was hesitant, and simply didnt deliver

Jordan Hill hustled hard, ran the floor well, yeah he did bad.., but if you give him a F+, then Thabeet gets a Z, for 0

Yeah, its definetly to early to judge, WAY to early to judge, but once again..dude was struggling against Jordan Hill..

No offense to Griz fans though, didnt mean to spark an argument.. lol

The Knicks shot 27 3 pointers….. that tells you right there that they couldn’t do anything in the paint
Jordan HIll wasn’t even trying to post up most of the time.

    Memphis only shot 3

I knew from the begining that he would take a while to develop. It took Tyson Chandler, Bynum, Dalembert long times before they were good. People forget that. Also you can add Perkins and Jefferson to that group. Even though he went to college because of his lack of experience. He is like a high schooler in some regards. I think he only take 2 years though because of his college experience. Right now the game is too fast for him as for as thinking wise and when it click for him his body should be NBA ready then and it will be interesting. I see him as a Tyson Chandler type. Maybe Dalembert because he can shoot jumpers if needed. If you look at that Grizzly team I think they knew he would take a while. If you look at the upcoming drafts, there will be a lot of good big men but not many centers. Marc Gasol may not want to be there. Think about it he was traded for his brother who was glad to get out of Memphis. Grizzlies are covering themselves. They should be able to complete most of their line up issues next year with back court help and depth. I doubt the GMs here are that smart but that is what I would do.
