mbunner23ParticipantIs there anywhere to stream this game? I do not get NBCSN. Thanks in advance.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantBoomers giving team USA all they can handle.

ZouldiersParticipantLooks like the Americans found their match. The Aussies are leading.

The GoatParticipantHalftime and Australia are shooting 68% from the field, up 5. 12 TOs have kept USA in it – theyre shooting under 40%

McDunkinHas USA ran a set play yet?

Reptilian MonkParticipantDelly and Mills > Thompson, Irving, Lowry

ChoppyParticipantIrving’s ice-cold 3 with Ingles sweating all over him was a heck of a shot though. That’s something he can do better than the Aussies unfortunately.

mcbaileyParticipantIt’s a little sad that we need to be reminded every four years that Carmelo is actually pretty good at basketball. If only he played this well for the Knicks.

OhCanada-ParticipantHe does. New York consistently provides no support, bad coaching and no bench plus the media places unreasonable expectations on the team. I think health will be the issue this year but if healthy they should reach the playoffs.

mcbaileyParticipantThat’s probably fair. I never really have access to Knicks games, so I have to operate largely on speculation and conventional wisdom.
Thanks for the insight!

The GoatParticipantA 5 point game with less than 30 secs left in the 4th. Australia should be confident of getting a medal these games.

HitsterParticipantAustralia have lead of kept USA in check very well during the game. Could well be a preview of the finals if the Aussies make it (Says an Englishman through gritted teeth).

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantHats off to the Aussie team. It shows what good team basketball can do,

omphalosParticipantHell of a game by my Boomers.
Highlight had to be Martin stripping Durant in the post – he’s the same age as Kobe, a 5-time DPOY in the NBL and the captain of my local team.
Should be dangerous at World Championships with Exum, Simmons and Maker onboard as a good tuneup for Tokyo 2020.

IndianaBasketballParticipantVery impressed by Australia’s offense. On ball/off ball screens, back screens, weakside screens, back cuts… Ball swinging side to side… Looked like a combo of the Spurs/Warriors offense.
I enjoyed watching them play…

ChoppyParticipantThank goodness it was competitive. More than competitive really. A better 3rd quarter and it might have been closer than 5 with 30 seconds to go. Great effort by the Boomers. Couldn’t be prouder of the boys.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI think the US really underestimated us and didn’t go in locked in or prepared- I doubt they go in this lacksidasical the next time we play, especially if its a medal game. Durant had a really poor shooting night, as did most of the US outside of Melo. If we were gonna pull the upset tonight was probably the best shot we’ll have in a while. Caught em sleeping on us and they had an off night. Highly doubt they don’t take us seriously next time we clash

brodiejayParticipantI’m Australian, so I’m obviously biased (just to put that out there), but the Boomers’ first half was all I’d hoped for!
The Aussies really moved the ball well and when you have Bogut and Baynes setting picks, it’s going to open up the floor for cuts to the basket and open threes for your guards. As long as Delly, Mills, and the wings continue to shoot from the outside with confidence, they’ll give any team problems.
My biggest take away from this game was seeing the US play with one point guard and four forwards but not being able to take advantage of height mismatches. When I saw the defensive matchups, I was worried Mills would struggle guarding the length of Durant and Paul George, who were effectively playing SG. I was impressed that the Aussies capitalised on those height mismatches and their speed was actually the advantage. Great team D by the Mills and Delly (6’0 and 6’4) to pressure KD and PG13 (6’11 and 6’9)
Would love to see a rematch in the gold medal game, as the Boomers really took it to the US. Realistically, I think the US will have a better game plan next time around… but I’m bloody proud of our boys for giving the US plenty to think about if a rematch eventuates!!!
I would lose my mind if the Aussies could win, but at the very least, today’s game made me realise the Boomers’ gold medal aspirations aren’t as far-fetched as people (myself included) thought!

Memphis MadnessParticipantKyrie Irving is a bad little dude. His dagger 3 was Game 7esque. Might end up being LeBron’s best ever teammate. I think he and Carmelo scored nearly all our points in the 4th quarter.
Carmelo is a silky, smooth assassin. It’s arguably HIS team. Along with Kyrie, put Team USA on his back. Good for him! Playing his way into the HOF with his stellar Olympic play. He is also now the all time leading scorer for the American teams. Looking forward to the Knicks this year with Melo, Porzingas, and now Rose, Noah, and Brandon Jennings. I think they can make a run!

RigelzParticipant…. but aussie played 110% US team 80%, …. Bogut cannot be so better than Boogie and KD can play much better…. anyway Australia is an amazing team, the question is if they will be able to mantain their shape during the competion….
