SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantLooks like JaVale is signing with the Warriors. I like it a lot for that team and him.

BiggysmallsParticipantIt’s a nice little move I guess. It’s not like if McGee sucks, they can’t just not play him or something. If he’s good – and he’s capable of being good – he gives them yet another body up front that can play good minutes. If he’s a clown, he’ll ride the pine and nobody will think about him.

Chilbert arenasParticipantLow risk move, if it doesn’t work they can easily cut or move him. I still hope Damien Jones gets time once he comes back from his torn pec.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIt is a better move for McGee than it is for the Warriors. It gives him a chance to to show he can contribute to a winning team whereas he has mostly been on teams that have had trouble winning many games. Warriors will be a championship contender with or without him.

For_Never_EverParticipantCan he still play ? Ever since his injury he hasn’t looked the same.

HitsterParticipantJaVale has often been mocked on here for his lack of basketball IQ but good luck to him with GSW, he will have a great chance of a title for sure. At least he has had the security of a nice 2nd deal from Denver which has only recently finished so may not need to chase a payday.
I agree that he doesn’t seem the same player post surgery as his game was built on his athleticism but he can still fill useful roster minutes for GSW across the season. Ironically behind Zara Pachulia who he was the deputy for last season at Dallas.
Realistally he won’t get many shots and his value will be on defence and as a big body for certain match ups. On offence I don’t see him getting the ball much in all seriousness.
Ending on a lighter note game scenario Game 7 2017 NBA Final, JaVale gets the ball on offence and decides to try and hit the winning 3 point basket.
But good luck to him next season.

Mr. JewboyParticipantHe could have been a real good center. If you remember, he came into the league the same year as DeAndre Jordan. Both 7-footers, the longest most athletic ones you’ll see, and obviously both excellent blockers. Neither actually had a clue at the beginning, so for a few years they were each other’s comparisons. Odd that they came out same year, being so alike.
And even though Mcgee is the one that comes from a background where both his parents were pros (he’s the first NBA player born to a WNBA player), he was the immature one doing all the mistakes. And now, DJ is 1st team All NBA, started for USA in the Olympics and constantly being on a contender and in conversation for Defensive Player of the year, Mcgee is lucky he got a contract. Too bad for him, had exactly the same tools as DJ.

Mr. HookShotParticipantHow much has coaching and team affected their paths?
– Jordan got a lot better after Doc Rivers took over, and solid teammates like Paul and Griffin held him accountable and made sure Jordan didn’t get too much responsibility and pressure (especially on offense)
– McGee started his career with an interim coach nobody heard off and teammates like Arenas and Blatche. He has never had a situation like Jordan, with a solid HC, good teammates, and a team in contention.
Not saying McGee would’ve flourished when changing positions with Jordan, but it just shows situation makes a big difference in the development of a player.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMcGee should make that roster. Based on reports, he’s healthy. He has anemia, which is why he had issues healing from that tibia fracture and required a couple of surgeries. He’s had a whole summer to work on his game with no restrictions, get his conditioning back, etc. His lower body should be strong entering training camp.
There are not many human beings with his height, length and athleticism. All he needs to do is keep it simple and he could help the Warriors in a limited role.

HitsterParticipantI still laugh at the one where he runs back up court but his team mates have still got the ball down the other end. I know he is a decent player but he still has this image as not the greatest reader of the game and you could imagine him almost being a stooge for Meadowlark Lemon in another era.

Jr. ROXASParticipantHe’s an upgrade over Ezeli, I hope we can all agree on that.
