SDEParticipantReke is a man playing against boys right now when he join the NBA it will be they same way.He can bully any PG in the league and score at will he seem to always make the right play or do it right when it shouldn’t, very unpredictable player in the best way.I seen him destroy guys his whole life when he was 12 or 13 he was playing 30 under league in chester&philly area averging 30 or more every game against vets and overseas players Reke will challenge for that top 5 list soon he will score but need to improve his passing and defense.

redbaboonParticipanti’m sorry but your perception of pgs is not good today. He can score, but how well can he defend, pass, and lead a team. I don’t see the intangibles in him yet. He has the potential to be very good, but probably never a top 5 pg. he still looks like a sg. Yes, he dominates in summer league, but the nba is a whole lot tougher, and he will be bullied around until he realizes it won’t be easy and he puts in the work necessary to reach his very high ceiling. He is definetely not close to a top 5 point guard next year, and let us not forget that the summer league is for rookies, players that need to develop, and players teams aren’t sure if they’re even going to give a minimum contract to let alone be a productive member of their team. it’s fun to watch and hear about new names, but the SL doesn’t mean very much. Bayless dominated the summer league, but did next to nothing last year, on a team that is made totally out of developing talent, why didn’t he get his minutes? maybe he was mostly hype.

Stanford hoopsParticipantyou beat me too it red…evans has alot more growing up to do as a point guard..can he score..yes but he wont be able to bully the same nba players that he bullies these summer league guys..hes putting up good numbers for a shooting guard but the troubling thing is all the turnovers hes racking up as a pg which is not good..if he cant learn to tone those down hes gonna see a move to the sg very soon during the season…with all that said he should be a good player

Stanford hoopsParticipanthe wont average 20 for the simple fact the offense runs through kevin martin first and foremost he may put up 15 a game and 6assists he will be a good player as far as top 5 on a list that must be top 5 rookies because thats the only top 5 list hes gonna be on

spencerishawesomeTyreke Evans is 19 years old. Only played PG for 1/2 a college season.
Those who say he has no chance at being a good NBA PG have no idea what they are talking about. He has a good chance at being at the very least an above-average NBA PG. Give him some time to learn the position, he has the handles to be a PG–just needs the experience. With experience typically comes less forced plays, less TO’s.

sheltwon3ParticipantSorry Josh I will have to disagree, the offense now will run through Evans. Evans can get to the line and his slashing opens up the floor for Martin. Evans needs the ball in his hands to be effective and Martin can come off screens and stuff. I give you a point for trying though. Sacramento does not make him the 4th pick to not use him and also they will want to play him so that they will not look bad for not taking Rubio. Evans will get minutes and numbers. Also Tony Parker has learned to play some point so I do not see why Evans can not do this. Also it was said he worked out with Penny Hardaway. If anyone can turn him into a big point, Penny can. I dont think he makes top 5 because it will be at least 3 years or so before he becomes anything close to a truth point. In 3 years he may become something like BD. A chucker with nice passing skills who likes to run and improvise which would be good for the Kings and exciting.

redbaboonParticipanthe can for sure be good, and i said he still looks like a sg, but what i objected to was the statement that he will knock around nba pgs and will be a man among boys in the league, he has awesome potential, and will be a good pg given time, but if he can’t play point in the first year or two his team may get frustrated and move him to sg, where he will be hardly above a normal player opposed to pg where he COULD becom great.

Stanford hoopsParticipanti dont mean the offense will run through him by having the ball in his hands i mean it by whos the go too guy and who most of the plays will be run for which will be martin..it was already known but is even more known by the kings management saying that evans was brought in to help run the offense and be a second option to martin

Thanks for telling me I have no clue. In my opinion, a great point guard is a player who looks to set up his teammates and is a pass first guy. This is almost always instinctive and it’s a style that develops when a player is learning the game and how he fits in. In other words, either you have it or you don’t. That’s what made Magic one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.
It occasionally happens, but we rarely see a guy who has a scorer’s mentality become a great point guard. More often than not, he plays PG and scores a lot of points. Unfortunately, many people think a PG who is a big time scorer is great. However, those who truly understand basketball know the success of a team usually revolves around a great passing point guard who gets everyone involved in the offense a la Magic.
It may happen, but I don’t think Tyreke Evans will become a great point guard because he has a scorer’s mentality. I’m betting he becomes a big time SG.

Stanford hoopsParticipantaccording to SDE evans has played pg all his life..dispite the fact that hes always been listed as a sg and he even said he played sg in a slam article

gatorheelsParticipantPlayed PG at Memphis
Played PG in summer league
Kings drafted him to be a PG
I’m a sensing a trend here.Evans is a PG that just has to cut down on his turnovers and improve his passing some. Simple as that, you guys are making too much out of nothing.

Meditated StatesParticipantDoes not look to pass. He is a shooting guard. He will have a hard time leading a team because he always looks for his shot 1st. Explosive scorer who will hurt his teams in the NBA playing the point if he does not learn to pass first score second. Big fan of this kid though. I thought Memphis would take it last year just because of him

matt12328ParticipantI think you can say that Tyreke Evans score just as much as Kevin Durant did his rookie season. I agree with Sheltwon that the offence will now run through him.

MattissickParticipanthe is 6’5″ and hasa 7’4″ wingspan. He has the potential to be an amazing defender. He already is very good at it. They drafted him because he could get around anyone but nobody could get around him.
