OhCanada-ParticipantHow will the Spurs do? Kobe’s retirement took all the glitter and glamour but Duncan leaving the sport is eqaully important impact wise to the league. They should still be amazing in the regular season but do they have enough to get over the top in the postseason.
They are starting Aldridge and Gasol upfront next year. That’s ridiculous. Kawhi Leonard is generally thought of as the leagues best two way player (I think its Lebron) and they’ve got role players with pretty much every roster spot and they actually play their roles.
Do they stay above 60 wins for now and the near future and more importantly can they advanced to the Finals or win a Championship?
There are alot of things that I have always known. Taxes/bills won’t pay themselves. You need food/water/air to survive. Don’t trust the weatherman.
And never count out the Spurs. But now that Duncan is gone does that last rule still apply?

Robb_CParticipantDuncan could give a f–k about his farewell, its just his personality.. Hes truly a once in a generation talent to me.. Ill always remember him as the greatest player after Jordan left the game..

Bankroll PJParticipantNot to take away from Duncan’s great career, but the greatest player since Jordan left is LeBron…

ChewyParticipantPau will easily be able to come in and provide more for the Spurs than Duncan last year (speaking strickly basketball stats, not team culture). Pau has 2 more years left in him.
They had a lose Boris Diaw to sign Pau. Looks like in year 3 Kyle Anderson is ready to step into that "versitile passing forward" bench position that Diaw leaves behind.
They lose David West as well, but the Spurs never used him nearly as much as I thought they would. He was a full time starting PF for Indy before he came to the Spurs.
They have 3 guards who can shoot in Green, Ginobli and Martin.
They have Parker and a solid backup in Mills. A potential player project in Murry.
They ONLY weakness I see in this team going forward is what will happen when Tony Parker retires? The Spurs rely on him being able to get into the lane as a huge part of their offense. Once Tony is gone, Mills can’t fill that role and Murry might not be ready. They will need to bring someone in that’s not on the roster right now to fill that role.
Another mini weakness is trying to find a big in the next two years who can fill Pau’s production when he retires as well.
They obviously still have Leonard and Aldridge, so they should be able to atrract free agents in the future, but how long is Pop planning to stay?

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantThey will be good. Think they have to bring Dejounte and Kyle along well, which I think they will. This is Manu last season and then Parker is on his own. Tony still has a good 4 years left but I can def see them being done in 4 years. They should win 60-65 games this year easily

NBAjunkie81Participantbut just his Presence was Massive……. The Spurs will still be the #2 team in the West
but I have to be honest – they don’t Feel like as much of a threat to Golden State
a big part of that is the Durantula signing…….. But Timmy D was Such an Imposing force – especially at the Defensive end…..
Just seeing Duncan on the Bench or on the Floor is intimidating b/c he was such an Alpha Killer
I grew up in a Terrible neighborhood & there is a saying in Every bad neighborhood where you have to look out for yourself:
When you are Weak ACT Strong; but when you are Strong ACT Weak
Duncan epitomizes this — for 15 years Tim Duncan did Not need to be Demonstrative during games b/c he Knew he was the Baddest Man on the court Every night
& his teammates take Strength from that & they are going to Feel his Absence in those situations where their Heart is Tested…..
