high floorParticipantI have whiffed on predictions in the past.. but man was I wrong about Terrence Jones. It is being reported that Terrence Jones is nearing a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, for approximately $5 million (unconfirmed).
In 2013-14, I saw a 22 year old power forward who checked all the boxes. He was athletic, shot a high field goal percentage, could step out and hit the 3, block shots & switch onto perimeter players defensively, and analytically posted just under a 20 PER which is well above the league average. All really impressive for a 2nd year player finding his way.
Fast forward the past 2 seasons and the guy has really fallen hard. He can’t stay healthy at all, his body language is very poor, and when give an opportunity to produce when healthy he just hasn’t delivered the goods.
Yea, I was definitely wrong about T Jones. I hope he proves himself with the Pelicans & Gentry can help him rediscover his talent and motivation.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI would have liked to see toronto take a chance on him instead of sullinger. For roughly the same price, I think they would have been getting a guy who, although he has struggled with health and consistency, could provide a much more versatile skill set.
Jones play fell off drastically last season but I think there were a number of factors that contributed. His health problems never allowed him to get in a rhythm and as a result i think he lost some confidence. Houston no doubt had a toxic culture to their team last year and sometimes we underestimate the impact that can have on an impressionable young player like Jones. Plus, they had sort of a logjam in the frontcourt all year and never seemed to really commit to a set rotation, with guys like Josh Smith and Beasley joining the team during the year and capela, montajunias and Jones all getting sporadic time.
I still think Jones has a lot of potential and could easily get back to his 2013-2015 level of play easily in the right environment. If the terms of that contract are correct, new Orleans may have gotten a steal.

juves4783Participantyeah, i always thought houston did not do a good job with jones or monty. in 2011, they drafted marcus morris and monty and then in 2012, followed up with jones and royce white. all 4 players played similar positions.
after moving morris and exiling white, monty and jones showed pretty good promise when they got minutes but then they bring in josh smith and take minutes away from the 2. i feel like both never really got a real shot and a change of scenery is probably best for both players.

Jr. ROXASParticipantIf healthy though he is a rebounding monster. He could block shots and has great handles and quickness for a jacked up 6’9 PF. I always lobbied for Jones to get more PT, but Bickerstaff never did want to. Also yea he couldn’t stay healthy. J.B was so stubborn really playing and starting Clint Capela at the 4 along with Dwight Howard. That alone says he is a horrible coach.
This is great news for T-Jones. He needs a change of scenery. Everyone save for Harden in the Rockets does. Davis needs someone who can bang down low and box out. Jones aint the tallest guy, but he is strong as an ox and athletic. Also, imagine the big-big lobs that will come from those 2. I’m definitely picking him in fantasy.

BiggysmallsParticipantNo idea what they are…but apparently Jones has a lot of off the court issues that aren’t really public. Minnesota Wolves reporter consistently mentions it when people ask him about Jones. Didn’t specify so he might be full of hot air but it wouldn’t shock me.
I’m assuming he’s a massive headcase/locker room cancer.
Guys who show at least some potential don’t get to renounced and hit unrestricted free agency at 25 and follow by signing a minimum contract. That didn’t happen when the cap was 58 mil, let alone 94. So there has to be something else to Jones I’d assume.
