kerrstParticipant1 year deal for 6 mil is a bargain for a potential starter. Risk free signing for the raps after they missed on bigger PF targets like Ibaka. Good signing although the defensive fit beside Valanciunas is questionable. He can stretch the floor abit and add rebounding. Is probably suited for a role as a backup PF behind Patterson but he has the potential to unseat PP as the starter.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe beauty of this deal is if Sullinger comes into training camp out of shape Toronto can bench him if they choose too. This is a make or break year. Sullinger already has injury concerns which is the reason why he fell in the draft to Boston. Toronto doesn’t have to hand him minutes on such a valuable deal and he has to earn them too prove he is a longterm NBA player.

HitsterParticipantNice pick up for Toronto with very little downside – Sullinger played 81 games last season so durability doesn’t look a major issues, But not having had his options taken up by Boston or getting the sort of deal that less proven players were getting this is a big year for him.
He will have the comfort of a nice day day from the Raps but only being on a one year deal means he’ll be playing for his next contract or at worse to put himself in the shop window from day one. He’s going from one play off team to another and can fill a solid 25mpg per night for the Raps from the go as well as loads of pick n’mix cups from the concessions.
Good deal for both sides.

BKGingerSnapParticipantSullinger can not stretch the floor. In his four nba season he has shot 20%, 27%, 28%, and 28% from 3. He had so many open 3’s last year that clanked off the rim. He has skill down low but he hasn’t been in shape since he was a rookie and under no circumstances can he guard any one on the perimeter. 6 million is probably a fair deal he ain’t replacing Bismack Biyombo and is not starting over patrick patterson.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThis is only a one year deal so it’s unlikely that sullinger will figure into their future plans. He gives them rebounding and frontcourt depth but classifying him as a stretch 4 is a bit of a "stretch" to say the least. He does get significantly more accurate though when he takes a step or 2 inside the line and he gives them another option to post when valuncunias sits. They will get pick and rolled to death if they play him with valuncunias defensively though. Overall, Sully is still a decent value signing and still probably an upgrade over an aging scola although he’s not exactly an ideal fit.

r377Participantkris Humphries just signed for $4mill in Atlanta so this deal for sullinger doesn’t seem too bad at all.

OllstarParticipantSullinger had a career high 8.3 RPG last season while posting his lowest MPG since his rookie season. When Sullinger was on the court he was usually the most talented Celtic out there. His trouble has always been his conditioning. If Sully can get on that Lowry diet I could see him being the 3rd option at the stretch 4 position.
As a Raptor fan I really like this signing. Sullinger is the half court scorer we desperatley needed.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantCan someone explain to me how the Kraptors got Sully for such a loony discount?
After seeing piece of krap after piece of krap sign for $12+ million/season, I figured a guy like Sullinger would flirt with $20 million/season (11th among C in RPM and RPM Wins).
Sully: 1/6
Crawford: 3/42 (36, awful defender, doesn’t assist, doesn’t rebound)
Tyler Johnson: 4/50 (slightly below-average in both ORPM and DRPM)
Timofey Mozgov: 4/64 (statistically the 2nd to worst C in the ENTIRE NBA)
Austin Rivers: 3/35 (bad in every facet of the game)
Evan Turner: 4/70 (league-average SG)
Allen Crabbe: 4/75 (average on O, dreadful on D)
Joakim Noah: 4/72 (had arguably the worst offensive season of all-time by a big)
This makes no sense. There were other inferior players to Sully who cashed in big.

agentoaktreeParticipantA big portion of those guys are guards that can torch the nets/ make plays. As far as Noah and Mozgov, that is the story of two loony front offices in LA and NY. Although even with that being said that still seems low for someone who can rack up boards and buckets. My guess would be the team medical staff know something we do not. I remember he fell in the draft due to some issue with his back, which he had surgery on in 2013.
