SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantWho looks worse. Dwyane Wade or the Heat. I can see both sides here. That man has taken several pay cuts and now wants his money. But on the other hand I see why Riley doesn’t want to give him that much money. Could end up hurting the Heat as bad as Kobe’s contract hurt the Lakers.
Looks like Pat Riley is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Preaching loyalty but coming off less than loyal. I personally believe the Heat should move on. This gives Josh Richardson and Justice Winslow more playing time and room to grow with Whiteside. Wade isn’t the player he was. If the Nuggets want to pay him 50 plus mill for 2 years go ahead.
Thoughts…

BasterdInABasketParticipantRondo-Butler-Wade-Mirotic-Lopez
Valentine-Moore-McDermott-Portis-Gibson
After losing Gasol Noah and Rose Bulls really salvaged this offseason.. That’s a solid ten man rotation that could potentially challenge CLE if all goes right for them with injuries and chemistry.

BasterdInABasketParticipantForgot Moore went to NO.. Even so you got Snell and Grant.. Backup PG is still a question mark. Also Other than Rondo and Grant this team can really shoot it opening plenty of shooters to put around Wade and Butler to attack.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI don’t think it’s going to work out, Wade and Rondo are both ball handlers that can’t space the floor but I do want Wade and Lebron to finally go against eachother in playoffs.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantNot true. Wade is a VERY good off ball scorer and takes excellent cuts to the rim. I believe playing with Romdo would open up a lot of easy baskets for Wade off quick cuts. I do agree with the problem both of them aren’t known to be shooters but I believe this bulls team has enough shooters to compensate

Reptilian MonkParticipantHeat are the major losers here if this goes through. The biggest best player in the franchise’s history gone. If Bosh misses the season the Heat are in big trouble already having lost Deng, Joe Johnson and Tyler Johnson

ghettosermonParticipantPG: Rajon Rondo/Jerian Grant/Spencer Dinwiddie
SG: Dwayne Wade/Denzel Valentine
SF: Jimmy Butler/Doug Mcdermott/Tony Snell
PF: Nikola Mirotic/Taj Gibson/Bobby Portis
C: Robin Lopez/Cristiano FelicioI think this team definitely needs a veteran shooting guard capable of stepping in for Wade throughout the season. I also think they need another Center. I think they should definitely explore moving Taj Gibson. They are strong enough at the 4 with Mirotic and Portis.

BiggysmallsParticipantI’m not sure why, but Riley bugs the heck out of me. He seems just super smug and slimey. Might be the hair.
Honestly don’t think this is the worst thing for Miami. I’ve never understood this notion that because Wade took less money in his prime, he is entitled to more now. He got all that credit for taking less money, that’s what you get when you take less money, not more money when you aren’t worth it anymore.
This is good for the Heat too. They can bottom out, force feed Winslow minutes and rebuild again. They had a nice little run and if Wade went back, they might be a playoff team again, but it was unlikely. He’s a shell of himself at this point and while he’s a good player still, Miami wasn’t going anywhere.

daggers818ParticipantI have a feeling Riles is quite content with this outcome. He kinda forced Wade’s hand really. Wade moves on, they tore the band aid off quickly, drama contained to a few days in the off season, and Riley can build fresh again in Miami.

Chilbert arenasParticipantPortis is 6’11, (6’10.5), with a 7’2 wing span, he can play back up center in todays NBA.

llperezHow did kobe’s contract hurt the lakers? They sold out l near every game both home and road despite sucking and were worth watching for one reason last year, why do you think that was? The 17 wins? Did his contract cost them free agents? Nope they had plenty of $ to offer max contracts each of the last 2 seasons and did offer multiple guys max deals, they just didn’t come. They still aren’t coming without Kobe so I doubt it was him. In fact lakers had to trade for lin’s final year of 15 mil and Hubert’s final year of 15 mil just meet the league minimum salary level each of the last 2 years.
So kobes deal was financially beneficial to the lakers organization in terms of ticket sales and profit and it didn’t cost them 1 single free agent. Plus it showed loyalty and kept the fan base happy and painted the organization in a positive light instead of hard bargaining and potentially losing a guy who brought 5 rings and the backlash that would have come with that. So explain how kobes contract hurt the team?

HitsterParticipantAfter losing 3 key players via trades or FA the Bulls have made some nice moves in FA and now have a very solid roster. D-Wade played off ball with LBJ so I don’t see there being any issue with him doing likewise with Rondo, he’ll get nice floor spacing too and get his share of shots.
Also under new cap regime – Robin Lopez’s contract suddenly looks better value too.
