An ESPN story this doesn’t rip the Sixers. It was well done. I applaud this Brenner guy for working hard and doing a nice job rather than taking the typical, lazy approach that most of the ESPN basketball guys take.

but the idea that Hinkie should have shared information & been a glad-handing, back-slapping, Aw-shucks "good Ol’ Boy" is Ridiculous

the NBA is a Cut throat Billion Dollar industry where Rich people Compete & getting a certain player w/ a #1 pick can be the difference between a multi – year championship run & the Hall of Fame career or losing your job & being branded a loser

Hinkie was an Animal……….. he absolutely Eviscerated trade partners who LET him — as he should

Sheep get Sheered in this World……….. Dainy Aigne did it…….. Jerr West did it…….Dr. Gerry Buss was a Genius at doing it…… & Red Aurbach was the Absolute Samuri Master

Contrast Hinkie the Workaholic, constantly searching for an edge w/ Jim Buss whose family members are Surprised & Thrilled when he simply shows up at work for a change…….

Hinkie absolutely had his faults but make no mistake……… Teams who think a GM is a Clown or a Buffoon Never criticize that guy b/c they WANT that guy around in perpetuity…….. b/c you Never had to worry about THAT type of guy Beating you……. (Insert Vlade Divac’s name here)

Hinkie was assasinated by Silver b/c opposing GM’s & Execs Feared him

Hinkie worked hard and did his best. There was no doubting that he did what he thought was best. As a Twolves fan, I would have liked him pair with Thibs, with Thibs having the final say. Hinkies few rediculous decisions could be negated by Thibs. I think he can probably be a little hard to deal with but if you manage Hinkie right he could be really good.

Drafting a bigman with a game that belongs in the 1970’s (Okafor) over a sweet shooting, proto-typical Stretch-5 (Porzingis) because he couldn’t arrange a workout is just reeeeeediculous.

Imagine if Porzingis was on the trade block on draft night. Teams would be willing to trade their whole roster to get his services.

I’ve heard all the stories about why Okafor is a dominant bigman that can get you 20/10 every night….yet the fact that no team wanted to touch him on draft night despite a desperate 76ers front office that was looking to unload him for a top 6 pick tells me that he’s pretty much redundant in todays NBA.

And I recently saw 1 thread saying how glad 76ers fans are that they didn’t trade Okafor….yet then I see threads about them wanting to sign Seth Curry lol. So you’re stuck with a Bigman you don’t want…..and a 4th string PG….yet you’re happy there was no trade?

          Crikey…so what is it?

Let me summarise..Okafors worth right now is basicaly peanuts as we’ve already seen. The option is either take the peanuts in a trade or put the human turnstile on the bench while Noel & Embiid play the 48mpg at the 5-spot.

Either way, that was a dreadful pick for a team that didn’t need a Center who simply tried to get too cute with trade dreams.

As you’ve said Prozingas wasn’t an option, he (Hinkie) can’t be blamed for taking a player that refused to even meet with the team.

As for Okafor’s value, well I’m not even going to get into that argument. Lets just wait and see.

heinke wanted porzingus, ownership was heavily opposed to the pic due to fear of public backlash. Not to mention okafor may still be better than porzingus.

I know someone that constantly rips Hinkie. He even ripped the Kings trade. I don’t understand how people can rip him. Stauskas was bad and overdrafted to begin with, but he hasn’t played on a good team yet. J.J. Redick was terrible early in his NBA career. Then he went to the Clippers and he was fine because all he had to do was hit open shots and free throws.

We traded two guys that will never play in the NBA for Stauskas, which would have been a fine trade.

Hinkie got two pick swaps with a perrenial bad team AND an unprotected first rounder on top of Stauskas.

I was hoping so bad that the Kings would win the lottery this year and we would TAKE that pick from them. Hoping it happens next year.

People are terrible. They rip him for taking a risk with Embiid (it was), then they rip him for taking the safe guy in Okafor (although many say he did want Porzingis and the owner forced him to take Okafor). What the hell do you want the man to do??? You could have told me that Embiid would miss two years on draft day in 2014 and I would have STILL taken Embiid. Those guys that went behind him are garbage. Dante Exum? Are you kidding me? He’s going to be another MCW. Marcus Smart? The most overrated player in the NBA.

Hinkie did nothing wrong but execute the plan so blantently. Had he signed Roy Hibbert and Brandon Bass or Rajon Rondo, no one would have said a word.

was to “win the draft” Hinkie would have “potentially” been great. However, a GMs job is to build a good-to-great team now and for the future.

The truth is the 6ers won 47 games over 3 years with him in charge, and still aren’t even close to making the playoffs. You’d think a good GM could make a team that would win 20 games by accident, but Hinkie couldn’t.

He tried as hard as he could to put a bad product on the floor for some potential future gain, never caring what the ticket-buying fans had to endure. I’m just glad my team never hired him.
