TyroberParticipantI havent saw that either but did see where the Celtics may have offered 3 and 16 for him as well as the Suns offering 4 and 13. Both teams seem eager to grab a solid player instead of drafting a rookie

Hype MachineIve been mentioning Hayward a lot in recent posts as a guy that was very unlikely to resign at the end of next year.
And also that the Jazz had to decide whether to let him walk or do something they dont usually do and trade a popular player.
I think a lot of it is Hayward being a nice guy and telling the Jazz in advance so they can get something for him.
As a Jazz fan, I’m indifferent about the news. Hes not critical to them at this point and has decent trade value.
Id like to see what the Jazz can package for him and the 12th pick. Maybe get #3 from Boston.
Hayward can join his old college coach.

HazelParticipantI’m not sure that I agree with the unlikely to resign. I think he is quite likely to resign if they make the playoffs as expected. Once in the playoffs, I would expect to see a team that can compete with any team but will take a few years to gain the confidence to close out games.
A good showing in the playoffs would keep him there.
That said, The Jazz are running into an issue of having a lot of very nice pieces who need to be paid at the same time.
Hayward is their best player and plays the game much like LeBron at about an all-star level, not the all-world level of Lebron.
If the team can have their top 7 guys stay relatively healthy, I see a 4-6 seed and possible first round series win this year.
The 100 million dollar quiestion is not wether the Jazz can keep him, but if financially that is the best rout. Let’s jut say that LA ends up getting one or two high-level players like Whiteside and Derozen. I see them trading #2 for Hayward. If that is the case, Ingram then replaces Hayward, and his salary does not become a concern for four years.
If you are Utah or LA do you take that deal?
BTW Jazz have turned down #3& 16 for Hayward per reports.
Maybe they take #3, 16 and Crowther for Hayward?
I would certainly entertain these scenarios from both sides. The big risk in Utah is that they don’t ever get a player to ever tops Hayward’s level and they never get past the great defensive team without the offensive or star power to close out a series against elite talent.

SpaceghostParticipantLove for Hayward works in the the Trade Machine…
Cavs move Bron to full time starting PF
Love gets an offense that will revolve around him..and they can Still draft Dejonte Murry and groom him to be the small forward of the future.
Cavs Kyrie,JR,Hayward,Bron,Tristan
Utah Exam ,Burks,Murray,Love, Gobert
Utah will need to move derrick favors i dont think he would be willing to move to the bench,

SwatLakeCityParticipantUltimately Hayward wants to win. He is very competitive, so while he is well liked in Utah, he might ask for a trade in order to go to a winning team and finally try his luck in the playoffs. If he does get traded, he’ll go to the east, as the playoffs have more likelihood of happening there than in the West. But here’s why I don’t think it will happen. Utah was so close to making the playoffs this year. They just need a closer to help them win those oh so close games during the season that could be key games for making the playoffs. They have too many young players with a lot of potential but not enough guys that know what it takes to win. Hayward knows this and will think we are so close, I can’t quit now. The Jazz will have a lot of money to spend in free agency as will a lot of other teams. So while this doesn’t mean that will the Jazz will bring in a star like Durant it does mean that they will spend a lot of money on veterans who could help them reach the playoffs. I have my eyes on Kent Bazemore. I think Hayward will give Utah one more year to see if they can make the playoffs before he asks Utah to trade him. And if Utah does trade him then, then they will look to start over. I could see Hayward getting traded at next year’s trade deadline, when Hayward will be able to see if Utah could really make the playoffs. Right now it’s just too early.

binetParticipantThe guy is not as important to the team as Gobert and is not very efficient shooting even if a volume scorer. It’s possible Rodney Hood takes over more next year and Utah may be able to get the improvement they need out of him.
A package of #3, Crowder and Amir Johnson is like a dream scenario for Utah I guess.
Celtics would have a not so good year after because the guy is clearly not the star level player they want.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantAinge will almost certainly have to try to trade for a Brad Stevens guy
Only question is what do they offer for him?
If they want a big from Philly or a guy like Butler/Love/Cousins they’ll have to keep the #3 pick and Brooklyn picks in 17…
Is Crowder really going to be involved in the deal? He’s the best defender on the team, he has the hardest matchup every night…
Maybe the Celtics feel like they can land Noel with the 3rd pick and Hayward with the Brooklyn picks and a player like Smart or Olynyk, the Jazz get a rotation guy plus a great pick in 17′?
IDK, might get tricky if Danny tries to do too much…
BTW is there anyone else in need of a Hayward in the Top 10?
Maybe LA, but they wouldn’t trade #2 would they?
Phoenix? Minnesota? New Orleans?Denver?Sacramento?Toronto? Milwaukee?
Who has the best pick and player to offer outside of The Top 3?

DolanCareParticipantIs it crazy to favor Hayward over Love? Love’s ability is more rare, but Hayward’s versatility just seems so much more appealing. Especially if you can get him for less.

circumlocution75Participantb/c he would have been the 8th PG taken –
Philly is Insane to just throw away Noel & Especially Okafor when Embiid has Not played a basketball game in 2+ years
Okafor draws a Double team Every time he touches the ball on the block – he’ll open up a Ton of space for Simmons
No way would I trade a 6’11” Bull & scoring machine in the 1/2 court set for a #3 pick in this Awful Draft class

machu46ParticipantPretty sure this rumor is BS based on the original source’s reputation/the fact that Hayward literally just bought a house in Utah and plans to workout there all summer. Plus the countless media guys that have come out and said there’s no truth to it at all.
Trading their #12 pick for a playoffs-ready PG makes it even less likely that Hayward is moved IMO.

HitsterParticipantIf Utah were offered 3rd and 16th from Boston or 4th and 13th from Suns for a good player who could leave via FA next summer and who has never made an All Star Game or any All NBA Teams, I personally feel it is a very good deal.
Utah would have 3 very nice picks this year and can take an elite young talent with 3rd pick to compliment Favours, Stifle Tower, Exum and co.
Personally as a Suns fan, I’d seriously consider giving up 4th pick for Hayward if he was likely to resign but not 13th pick as well. I don’t see Boston rushing head first into this deal given the other options Ainge may have this summer. With Boston a lot could depend if Brad Stevens says to Danny Ainge he’d really like Hayward on the roster given their Butler connection.
