Im sorry but nobody after Jacob Poetl on the current mock draft can I say is a definite star, and every time I look up Ben Bentil is frying somebody. He did it all year at Providence and everybody talked about Kris Dunn like he was doing it alone.. na. I just watched a documentary that unfortunatly I can find to post about how Bentil was from Ghana and hadnt come up hooping, and it reenforced my opinion. He’s put dudes to shame in the combine and it looks like his handle is improving.

People are labeling him and undersized 4 but I think he can be a legitimate 3 in the league, his jumper is already there and his handle is far behind. My comparison for him is Luol Deng, which I think he could actually surpass. Its bold but dont be surprised is Ben Bentil is lottery pick on June 23rd.

You can’t compare him to Deng, Ben Buckets can score but his defense is horrible… He could be maybe like Al Harrington type…

The thing with Deng is that he is an above average defender. I love Bentil (Although have cooled a bit wanting Indiana to take Valentine or Hernangomez) but he has shown very little ability to play defense, lacks athleticism which he needs to either defend the rim or guard the perimeter 4’s, doesn’t create for others (Very seldom does he get out of of the post or look for teammates. He would be a nice scoring option, but he needs to do more than that to warrant a lottery pick.

He is probably more in the mold of Terrence Jones.

Yea in highlight videos and workouts he looks promising. PF in the mold of Draymond Green who can shoot the three, who wouldn’t be enticed by that?

However, if you watch his games at Providence, you can see that damn, he has some slow and heavy feet. For a 6’8 undersized PF, that’s a death sentence on D going to the NBA, since not only does he not have the size and athleticsm to contest shots, but he will also have a hard time guarding fellow stretch 4s.

He reminds me of 76er days Mareesse Speights, with Speights being more athletic then and Bentil being stronger. I think another good comparison that was floating around in this forum was Mike Scott, and I think that’s accurate. His shooting ability and bulk will keep him in the league, but he has a long ways to go to become an effective starter in the next level.

Like him too, probably not lottery but early 20s… Maybe even a little earlier to a team like the Nuggets. My comparison for him would be Paul Millsap. A little undersized for the 4, but his versatility will make him a tough guard and a good player in the more position less, switch everything league

Bentil is notnearly as versatile as Millsap. He maybe a versatile scorer but not a versatile player. He can’t gaurd his position, he isn’t a good playmaker at this point, he doesn’t rebound well for his position and he isn’t a guy that gains your team extra possessions. He scores, that’s what he does. Al Harrington is a perfect comparison of a fully developed Ben Bentil, but he has a long way to go.

Somebody like Pheonix at 13 might be interested in his offense since thats all they seem to care about , but they are probably taking Bender or Chriss at 4. So it does’nt seem likely he will be a lottery pick.

With the plethora of frontcourt players (although few posses the same offensive skillset) most are better defenders so he could easily fall to the 2nd round.

He reminds me of Eddie Johnson. Eddie was a knockdown shooter who bounced around the leage for a very long time. Great catch and shoot guy. Man, I’m old. Check out his Youtube Channel.
