I recall that after GS won it all last year, there were tons of doubters that said the Cavs would win a rematch with a healthy Irving and Love.  That the only reason that GS won is that Lebron was all by himself and couldn’t carry the team.

This year, after game 1 and 2, when the same GS lineup of last year handed the Cavs with a healthy Kyrie and Love big losses, all of those people were silent.  Crickets.

Now after game 3, the crowd is calling Love soft, and speculating that the Cavs are better without him!  And that the Cavs shouldn’t even play him the rest of the series.  And that he is suddenly trade bait.

Wow, just goes to show that fans are incredibly fickle and collectively have extremely short-term memories.  I bet if Love plays in game 4, and has a good game, and the Cavs tie it up, the same people will flip again and build Love back up.

Ah, the drama.  My take?  The game 3 victory had absolutely nothing to do with Love sitting.  It had everything to do with incredibly tight team defense played by the Cavs, and Lebron playing like a superstar.  The Cavs were the better team last night by a long shot.  Lebron resisted the urge to play hero ball, and instead played hard, smart, nearly flawless basketball.  Kevin Love, had he played, would have been great too because the team was clicking, and the ball was moving, and the Cavs played defense like I have never seen them play before.  If they play like for the rest of the series, we are going to be watching an amazing game 7 for the ages.

Of course Love not playing is not the reason why they won. But he is partly a reason why they got blown out in Oracle. He dude tries but his defense is just not enough. Draymond always seem to outplay him. Jefferson might be old but is still quite athletic and has proven to be better option defensively. But Love is stil the biggest X factor for Cleveland. He plays well and engaged defensively, theres a big chance they win. Interesting to see their lineup for Game 4.

If anything is to be gained from the first 3 games, it is that winning on the road is difficult.

I think they can win with him, but I think by him sitting out, they figured out how they need to play. I honestly think he’d be better playing Channing Frye’s role off the bench for this series and keeping Jefferson in the lineup. That allowed Lebron to move over and guard Draymond, which stifled a lot of Golden State’s offense. Then if you put Love out there with the 2nd unit, he’s guarding Speights
