RipDeuceParticipantAs soon as Mike Bibby was inked the Atlanta Hawks turned to free agent priority number two, small forward Marvin Williams. Sources close to the situation have told HOOPSWORLD that Williams is close to multi-year deal with the club that drafted him second overall.
Williams’ camp would like to see something in the $40 million range, and the Hawks’ initial offer was reportedly around $37.5, meaning the two sides were never really all that far off and something should be done soon.
Flip Murray, another Atlanta free agent, is not expected to return to Atlanta, however. The Hawks just had too many free agents to try and retain, and the most recent rumblings are that Murray is close to a multi-year deal of his own with a different team.

meisi4Participant40 million seem to be a good deal for the hawks as williams has a lot of potential but about how long are we talking? 4years oder even 5? 5 would be amazing for the hawks!

JNixonParticipantToo bad for Flip. He was a great scorer last year for the Hawks,he could change the offensive flow for them. But with Crawford and Teague there isnt a need for him anymore. Im glad the Hawks are working to get Marvin back. He is a good piece for the team. At least management is being smarter this off season

sheltwon3ParticipantGlad he is staying. Atlanta will be better and more explosive this year. I will miss Flip but I do hope he gets the opportuntity to play with another team. He would do well in Denver. Also Marcus Thorton is looking like a Flip Murray type player with his scoring for the Hornets.

doubledribblerParticipantThat’s way too much money for someone that is just a role player and a OK one at that. I’m thinking he’s worth the mid level exception, nothing more or less.

canesboy6Participant13 and six from a 23 year old is more than role player numbers. He is a6’9 athletic and improving combo forward who has had no off the court trouble and is by all acounts a humble team player. Kid still has tons of upside, and deserves 8 mil a year or so. People forget how young he still is.

JNixonParticipantMarvin could develop into an all-star level player in time. He is a very good all around player and he will get better because he has a high bball IQ and is a hard worker. He’s improved statistically and in comfort level every season he’s been in the league. And he defended LeBron better than anyone I saw last season when he was healthy.
