2016-17 Pre-Season All Americans

1st Team

Grayson Allen- Duke (They have a lot returning but he will still be the primary option. Could benefit from having more around him to take the pressure off)
Frank Mason- Kansas (If he can finally find true consistency)
Monte Morris- Iowa St. (He’s going to have to carry this team but if he continues his mistake free/efficient play with increased usage his numbers will be amazing)
Dillon Brooks- Oregon (#1 option on a team looking for its first final 4 since the first final 4. If his shooting is more consistent he will be a nightmare to defend)
Nigel Hayes- Wisconsin (Like Brooks he needs consistency on his jump shot. If he’s locked in he could be a monster, especially with a better team around him.)

2nd Team

Josh Hart- Villanova (Going to be top guard for defending champs, played very well in their tournament run)
Josh Jackson- Kansas (I think the best freshman in the nation)
Alonzo Trier- Arizona (averaged 14 ppg last year after hurting his hand.)
Trevon Blueitt- Xavier (Him and the other Xavier guard Edmond Sumner could both be very good)
Przemek Karnowski- Gonzaga (Big bounce back year for him IMO, I think he’s going to be a force)

3rd Team

Markelle Fultz- Washington (Saw him play a couple times against some really good backcourts. Always in control I think he does amazing in their up tempo system)
Malik Monk- Kentcuky (I think he could be a 9/10 version of John Wall)
Kris Jenkins Villanova (Either 1st or 2nd option on that team, great inside/out player)
Lonzo Ball- UCLA (I could see him being 1st or 2nd team as well, I just don’t know how well his team will play)
Harry Giles (If he’s fully recovered by the time the season starts he will be a monster I could see him moving up this list as well)

Honorable Mention

Miles Bridges- Michigan St.
Bam Adebayo – Kentucky
Justin Jackson- North Carolina
Isaiah Hicks- North Carolina
Joel Berry- North Carolina
Melo Trimble – Maryland (I just think his team will suck)
Lauri Markannen – Arizona
Thomas Bryant-Indiana
James Blackmon Jr.-Indiana
Caleb Swanigan-Purdue
E.C. Matthews- Rhode Island
Tyler Lydon- Syracuse

Hayes, as seen from his first two years at Madison, has a lot of potential.

He changed his jump shot before last season started and it never got on track. During the tournament especially, Hayes disappeared on the offensive end for long stretches. He’s got 1st team All-American potential, can play both ends well, but needs to work on his jumpshot and learn to maintain his confidence level for this to happen.

I think a sleeper for this list could be another badger, Ethan Happ. He was the Badger’s most consistent offensive option this season and was an anchor for a very good Badger defense (can you tell that I’m a Badger fan?)
