With it looking more and more apparent that Ben Simmons will be the 1st pick in the draft to Philadelphia, It had me thinking maybe the fit isn’t that bad it’s the position that is the issue.

I know he’s 6’10 240, but when you look at his skill set and attributes it screams Point Guard. He has an insane handle and a True gift for passing the ball to go along with tremendus athleticism. That all points right to Point Guard.

I believe if the Sixers do draft Simmons with the 1st pick, they have to atleast have to give him a try at point guard 1st and see what happens. I love Ish Smith and what he brought to the sixers this past year, but he is not a starting PG in this league, he is a very good back-up who deserves a spot in this league and a solid 20 mins a game off the bench.

With the Front Court of Jahlil, Embiid, Noel and Saric set, I think the best place to put Simmons is at PG to space them out and put the ball in his hand and let him facilitate the offense which is what he does best. Imagine the size and length that team would have, it has the potential to be a matchup nightmare for teams if they can figure out a way to make it all work.

That might be the most awkward and worst shooting lineup in the history of the NBA lol. Simmons is one of those guys that I think doesn’t really have a true position (in a good way I mean). He is versatile enough that you can play him all over the court. He will play some point throughout his career but I see him more as a point forward than a full-time pg. I think you actually negate a lot of his strengths as a player by playing him there. You would definitely have to surround him with shooters to make it work, which philly definitely doesn’t have right now.

i see him running the point forward. Not bring the ball up but starting the offense once they are set. They need to put a guy at the point that can spot up and shoot.

And maybe play some defense…just have him run the offense in a similar way to Lebron, who shot 31% from three this year.

If Saric comes I would give it a try. Assuming that Okafor is gone (rumors suggest that this is the most likely scenario) I wouldnt mind trying Simmons at 1 with a 3&D SG, Covington at the 3, Saric at the 4 and Embiid hopefully playing the 5. I wouldnt be worried about ofense with that lineup, guarding quicker pg could be an issue but it depends who would slide in that spot.

I don’t think he can gaurd the position but if anyone thinks he can’t run an offense your out of your mind. His quickness handles and playmaking are all exceptional and if it lands you another top 3 pick and doesn’t work you take your PG next year and have a very promising lineup for the next decade.

Ben Simmons will be the Sixers PG, that will be his ROLE. But they will not play him with multiple bigs and combo forwards at the same time. That cannot work. Positions in basketball are liquid and are mostly defined by defense. IMO his ideal position is the 4.

Exactly what I was gonna say. His position is defined by defense. Offensively he will always handle the ball, but it will be difficult if he’s surrounded by big men who can’t shoot. Saric isn’t precisely a sharpshooter, actually he’s a good passer who likes cutting to the basket and makes plays from there.

Nah just let him run the offense from the forward position.  You still need guards out there to defend the opposing team’s guards. Unless you like the idea of having Ben Simmons chase Steph Curry or Klay Thompson off of screens

Clearly they are looking to trade Okafor or Noel……… So they’ll either Draft a PG (w/ 1 of their other 1st round picks – maybe thru a trade)……..or pick up a PG in Free Agency…….

Embiid must be 100% if they’re looking to deal 1 or both of the other centers……… They’ll run the ball thru Simmons on Offense……. (Much like Cleveland does w/ Lebron)…….   in a "Point 4" role……..I’m hearing that Saric may join them & he is a really nice player – Very versatile & he can shoot the 3……..

They have a Bunch of Lottery picks the next few years…….. So they are Still building the next 2 years (Probably)…….. But they are building a Very Versatile Group……. Guards come out Every year……I’d LUV to have those pieces as the foundation to my squad………..
