What do you guys think about dejounte murray and what are some nba comparisons to his game? And where do u think he would be the best fit?

I think he will go in the lottery and can be a steal in the right situation

I hope Phoenix will use their two lottery picks on both Murray and Chriss, they could be the next Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp!

Murray is my favorite player in this draft. I take every opportunity to rip Jamal Murray and praise this kid.  The site is pretty accurate with their comps.  I have heard MCW comps but Dejounte doesn’t shy away from contact even at 175. Also has a great floater that he can hit with either hand.  His ball handling is very good and will get better as it is one of his strengths.  Things he needs to improve on are his three pt shot and his pull up jumpers.  He is young and full of potential and will shock this draft class in a similar way that Paul George came in and owned his class.  Look for him to come off the bench early and be that scoring spark for whatever team drafts him.  I have this kid third on my board. Ahead of Dunn due to Dunn’s injuries.  All the Jamal Murray fans still have hard on’s from watching Steph shoot the ball.  The only thing that guy can due better than Dejounte is shoot. Dejounte is taller, longer, faster, more aggressive out on the break and getting to the rim, better ball handler, better passer, he is a sub par defender. But he has the ability to be a plus defender so to length and quickness. Jamal is limited by his super poor lateral quickness.  Hope this helps you see the light.

He is a turnover prone, poor shooting combo guard who is also a year older than Jamal Murray. Combine Dejounte’s 28.8% from the three-point line with his poor free-throw shooting at only 66% and I think you have to wonder whether or not he will be able to extend his range to the NBA line. Dejounte has a greater wing span than Jamal but does not have any sort of discipline when it comes to making heady basketball decisions.

that Jamal Murray isn’t all he’s hyped up to be I wouldn’t take Jamal in the top 10. I think the Indiana game when he played against an NBA level defender in OG Anunoboy is a preview of his life in the NBA. He can’t handle the ball (sorry to those who think he can be a combo guard but he’s not a good ball-handler), has short arms and has slow feet. He’s a one-trick pony with his jumper, and he shot 41-78 (3pt%-FT%) and while 78% from the FT line is good, for a guy who I think is a one trick pony spot up shooter, I’d rather see him in the mid to high 80s like Buddy Hield (88% from the FT line and 83% as a freshman). Dejounte Murray seems like a gamer. I watch him play and don’t really know how he puts up numbers but he’s athletic and can play. I’d rather take a gamer. D. Murray has shown no signs of ever becoming a good shooter, but if somehow he did, watch out, because with that athleticism and that length, he’s a potential all-star.

I thought he would be a Great late 1st round pick for a team that could develop a PG Long Term………..

When you watch his tapes you are Blown away by Several things: ……… 1st, his size ( a Legit 6’5”+ not a guy who is 6’3” w/o shoes but advertised as 6’5”)……… Murray is Tall & has Crazy Wing Span…..

2nd, Murray has Freakish quickness & Explosive 1st step penetration ability…….. 3rd, he is capable of making Spectacular passes & scoring when he Attacks the Rim………

But when I see a kid like this I ALWAYS get Crazy Excited………. but then I try to imagine if he was Actually running the NBA team I root for……… And then I return tpo Planet Earth…….

Here are Murray’s Weaknesses:……. 1st he can Not shoot & his shot mechanics are going to take A LOT of work………. 2nd, he plays Completely "Out of Control" & as a Result he is a Turn Over Machine…… It is So bad that he can’t even make the simple plays an NBA Point Guard must make to run a team…….

& this leads into the 3rd weakness & that is he is Very Immature…… not Immature like D’Angelo Russell where wants to be a character of the Kardashian’s Reality show…….. but Immature In the Game…….. he is Constantly trying to make that highlight reel Pass or Bucket………. so there is No way a team could start him at PG – even the Sixers could Not put Murray in charge…..

So, while Murray has More raw ability that Any PG in this Draft…… Teams early in the 1st round Want a player who Will contribute……… And I just can Not see a team Drafting him before the 20’s in the 1st round………

But if someone develops him he could really be something special…….. I really wish he stayed at Univ of Wash though & deveoped……. b/c right Now he reminds me Way too much of Tony Wroten,………

I agree with your assessment of his strengths and your assessment of his shooting: his form needs to be taken apart and put back together. However, him being seen as a turnover machine and a street baller comes from his college coach running the fastest offense in college. Every play was a fast break. It didn’t teach half court offense at all and that pace jacks up turnover numbers. Essentially, the kid wasn’t coached. Not his fault. As far as character issues, I’ve heard rumors, but nothing concrete.

I think people under rate the talent of guys that can get to the rack no matter what: especially guards. We get maybe 2 or 3 a draft who can blow by everyone no matter what. There’s no way he drops outside the lottery.

I think Murray is more NBA ready than most people think. He is rail thin but absorbs contact well and also seeks out contact. He will likely be posted up and outworked by stronger SG’s but theyvwill actually have to outmuscle him as he will fight and there’s not too many gaurds in the league that thrive in the post to take advantage of the size difference. It’s not like any team will expect him to be playing 35-mpg off the jump so he shouldn’t be expected to gaurd the Butler’s, Wade’s and Derozan of the league immediately. His shooting is also better than the numbers suggest yet this will have to be proven in game scenarios and his bad percentages will likely hurt his stock. I think there’s a chance he gets selected 8th by the Kings and will likely be gone by the 16th.

I’ve watched a decent amount of him since my schedule allows me to watch a decent amount of Pac-12 basketball and for whatever reason, Washington is always on.

Murray does some things that make him look like a top 5 pick, then he does something really dumb (like pick up an offensive foul on one end and 20 seconds later a defensive touch foul). His shot selection is usually fairly terrible. He’s a project. Sixers don’t need a guy like him. Maybe a good team where he doesn’t have to play right away.

    My NBA comp: Von Wafer.
