OhCanada-ParticipantI’m almost certain the Lakers will offer the #2 pick and some combination of Russell, Clarkson, Randle, Nance and their 2nd round pick this year along with contract fillers for Carmelo Anthony in order attempts lure free agents and other stars l to Tinseltown.
If I’m New York and I get offered Ingram, Randle and Clarkson I take that group of young players and immediately rebuild around them and Porzingis. Porzingis already proved he has star potential and can thrive in the medias spotlight. Randle and Kristaps seem like they would compliment eachothers games perfectly and add in Ingram, Clarkson and a great Gaurd class and likely lottery pick in the upcoming draft I think youve got a great future that Carmelo may not be able to provide at this point.
The only thing I could see stopping this from happening is Melo. Would he want to play in LA, because if he does its a done deal.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantSo you know how you were getting rustled over people saying Derozan could go to LA even though he’s said explicitly he wants to stay in Toronto- why would Melo leave when he’s specifically said he wants to stay in New York? He has a no waive trade clause so it doesn’t matter if LA offers them an irrefusable offer because Melo will shoot it down. Stop being salty over the fact that Demar is being linked to LA

220ParticipantIf you said they’d offer that to try to get Paul George I’d agree, but Carmelo just isn’t worth that much anymore and he’s never really drawn top free agents to any team he’s been on.

trombonematrix43ParticipantCarmelo to L.A. #triggered
But seriously, no way in my right mind would I even offer that for Carmelo. If the Knicks got that offer they would be dumb not to take it.

JV’s_pump_fakeParticipantWhy would you leave one rebuild to go to another?
Only way Carmelo waives his no trade is to go to a contender.

TarHeelRavenParticipantWhy anybody want Melo at this stage of his career is beyond me. He hasn’t won jack his entire career and has only made one conference finals. he is no longer is his prime. I was never a Carmelo fan. When he stated he wanted to win and then signed all that money to stay in New York when the Knicks weren’t going anywhere, it said a lot about him. I beleive he wanted the money a lot more than winning. I beleive teams should just stay away from Carmelo at this stage.

CavFanPRParticipantWell, you could say the same thing about Chris Bosh. He had a four year offer from the Rockets, clearly a superior team to the Miami Heat at the time, and he elected to stay in Miami because of the money. Can’t fault Melo for staying in New York to be honest. I don’t think he envisioned the Knicks being as bad as they’ve been or that Phil would dump some of his best role players for cap space.

BiggysmallsParticipantSo many "why would Carmelo"…like why the hell would L.A do that deal?
Melo has proven he can’t carry a team to the postseason in a weak Eastern Conference.
Why would a team want to give up multiple young guys on rookie contracts for an overpriced over-the-hill star?
People are way too down on D’Angelo Russell. He had a fine rookie year. He was overshadowed by Towns and Porzingis but he still showed flashes of being a good player as a 20 year old.
I get that we are all about instant results but damn.

Ahkasi ClayParticipant#1 Lakers can not trade the pick. But can trade the player after the selection.
#2 you can not trade free agents (Clarkson)
Can’t tell if this was posted by a Troll or a Lakers fan.
