Deandre Jordan first team is a joke! You can’t even play the guy when it matters because he has a free throw percentage similar to a blind folded high school kid…. This matters! Sure his defense is great but being so flawed in a major area in the game is enough to not get you a spot on the first team. It’s not like this team has to play against anyone, just put durant in at the 5 spot and be done with it! If harden can’t make any side because his defence sucks then justify to me how Jordan makes 1st team when his offence sucks?

The format is one center, two forwards and two guards, but it literally hurts my soul lol to see DJ on the 1st team and KD on the 2nd. Since Draymond plays so much at center, I’d have even rathered seen him on the 1st team instead of DJ smh.

Format format, see the all star ballot without C.

Jordan isn’t even an all star(righfully so) and he’s an all nba 1st team, that’s a good one !!!

      1st team is definitly WestB-Curry-Durant-Kawhi-Lebron.

An olymmpic small ball 5 in rio  BTW.

It’s interesting that the All-Star game removed the center restriction yet the All-NBA Teams and All-Defensive Teams retained it. As far as the All-Star goes I’d rather see them change the balance to 3 forwards and 2 guards or just remove restrictions altogether for fan voting.

Some tweets about how the All NBA teams affected Anthony Davis and Lillard’s contracts:

Marc Stein:Damian Lillard’s berth on the All-NBA Second Team makes his extension from last summer more than $20 million richer thanks to the Rose Rule.

Marc Stein:It’s essentially a $25 million difference over the next five seasons for Lillard; Anthony Davis fell well shy in the end of the same riches.

Justin Verrier: Anthony Davis did not receive enough votes to make any of the three All-NBA teams, meaning the maximum extension he signed last offseason will be worth only 25% of the league salary cap and not the 30% he would have made, as stipulated by the CBA’s "Rose Rule." Davis will leave around $25 million over the length of the contract, and give the Pelicans about $4.3 million extra in cap space this summer to utilize.

I wish they would just change the format to include three frontcourt positions and 2 guards like they do in the all-star game. I would have personally put Durant on the first team over Leonard but both clearly deserved to be there over jordan.

I was pleasantly surprised they didn’t include harden, who put up big numbers but loafed it on d and didn’t play team ball all year.

If your going to reward cousins for big stats on a bad team, then I think Davis belongs as well on the third team. Overall these picks are pretty solid though.

Just a few thoughts. As with everyone else, DJ on first team is a joke.  Second, good for Lillard.  Great for Lillard.  Finally getting at least some of the respect he deserves after his ridiculous All Star snub.

Finally, definitely more of a personal preference one here, but I just don’t like Aldridge on Third Team over Davis and Towns.  I would take Davis (only 13 fewer games yet alarmingly better statistics) or even KAT (played all 82 with almost identical stats, indentical PER).  Both make defensive impacts, and both enourmously impact their team’s overall success.  Nothing away from Aldridge, but I would have given that last forward spot to one of those two.

Amin elhassin from ESPN said on the NBA lockdown podcast a while ago that the ALL NBA teams should be based soley on votes not postion. His reasoning was that would give the most accurate view of the league in a given year. For example if 4 of the 5 best players in the league are forwards then it should have been 4 forwards on the ALL NBA teams. It’s crazy we have 3 players(KD, Green, and CP3) on the 2nd team that have more votes than a player on the 1st team.

Tell Cousins to make the playoffs.  Then get back to me.

DeAndre Jordan does center things: dunks, rebounds, blocks shots, alters shots.

I think I am ok with it.

You probably could have put Paul George on the second team instead of Draymond Green.  Again, close call.

What they SHOULD have done this year is done a 2016 Mount Rushmore: LeBron, Kawhi, Steph, and RUSSELLMANIA!

Now, Durant would be hurt but he would be on the Non Mount Rushmore 1st team with Draymond, Lillard, Paul George, and the toss-up pick of Jordan, Cousins, and even Drummond.

OR, a 2016 NBA Big Man Mount Rushmore: Draymond Green (lock), DeMarcus Cousins (lock), and DeAndre Jordan (lock) with LaMarcus Aldridge and Andre Drummond fighting it out for the last spot.

That would leave you with a non-Mount Rushmore/non-Mount Rushmore Big 1st team of Durant, Paul George, Lillard, Chris Paul, and either Kyle Lowry or Klay Thompson.

Non-Mount Rushmores 2nd team: Leftovers of Lowry or Klay, Aldridge or Drummond, James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Jimmy Butler.

Who would you take off the list for him though?  I guess maybe Klay?  22 points a game, good defense, 60% TS%, and a major role in the winningest team in regular season history is a pretty strong resume though.

I think they got it pretty right except for Jordan as noted, and I would’ve liked the flexibility of inserting Green at the 1st team center position since he did play there a lot.  So happy for Lillard as he took on the leadership challenge of a seriously depleted team, got them working together over the summer, and took them on a run that I think no one could’ve anticipated.  Really excited to see where he takes his career from here.

I’m not a fan really, but I was a little surprised that Wall only got 8 votes.  His stats, while not for a winning team, were fairly historic — just shy of 20/5/10 — which only a few players in history (Magic, Oscar, Chris Paul, RWB this year!) have accomplished.  So just on stats, he probably should get a little more recognition.

Also, Kemba Walker had a great year and led the surprising Charlottle team all year – 6 votes (as opposed to Derozan’s 26?).

I think this will be the last time, barring injury, that Towns will not be on the all-NBA team.  That kid is so good and committed.  Could’ve argued for him this year.  Love him.

DeAndre Jordan 1st team? He ranks #4 on my bigman list behind Green, Aldridge and Boogie.

And James Harden needs to be on the Second Team. People criticise his defense, but did you know that he covers more distance on an NBA court than any player in the entire NBA (thanks player tracking).

So when people record vines of him putting in a lazy defensive effort, they need to consider that he’s also the hardest working player in the league and probably gets a little tired occasionally from completely carrying his team.

do you have any proof that Harden is covering so much ground because I could swear last season I read an article that guys like Korver and Klay are running across the court nonstop and Harden actually was one of the laziest players in this category and from the eye test I feel like Harden isn’t moving at all that much during a game. It’s something I realized back in OKC that he is not at all someone who runs trough screens and across the court on offense more than others and defensively I don’t think it is different.

I hypped it up….hes 5th. He was first last time I saw.

It goes McCollum, Hayward, Walker, George, Harden.

Hes #2 on defensive side of the ball, behind Ariza.

All the guys at the top play a ton of minutes and didnt miss games, but miles on the legs add up regardless.

The fastest average speed is reserve guards like Patty Mills, Ish Smith, TJ McConnell. I guess thats how you bring energy off the bench!

High minute bigs like Marc Gasol, Boogie and Nowtzki are the slowest lol. Fair enough though!

I just checked it and Harden has the 5th most miles run in the regular season which surprised me BUT to me this is not the whole story. This is mainly because he led the league in mpg and total minutes and also played the full 82 games, which isn’t bad but kind of inflates his numbers a little bit. While he also leads the league in total distance run on defense, we know he is horrible there and maybe that shows his ineffectiveness on this end while he is burning his calories a lot there without any notable impact.

Other interesting stats regarding this are:

The lowest average speed among ALL STARTERS in the league under 6’7" at 3.79 mph; last in offensive speed, 2nd to last only ‘mached’ by Tyreke who played just 25 games

So basically Harden is the guy with the most miles and minutes in total in the league but also the slowest out of all starters, which wasn’t my original point, since I thought he would be standing around more often but also shows his ineffectiveness which might be the reason why he has such poor shooting percentages.

So basically Harden is the guy with the most miles and minutes in total in the league but also the slowest out of all starters, which wasn’t my original point, since I thought he would be standing around more often but also shows his ineffectiveness which might be the reason why he has such poor shooting percentages.

Fair enough though!

do you have any proof that Harden is covering so much ground because I could swear last season I read an article that guys like Korver and Klay are running across the court nonstop and Harden actually was one of the laziest players in this category and from the eye test I feel like Harden isn’t moving at all that much during a game. It’s something I realized back in OKC that he is not at all someone who runs trough screens and across the court on offense more than others and defensively I don’t think it is different.
