I honestly don’t know a single Nets fan. Are there even any Nets fans left? They got the best Arena in the world, an owner with deep pockets and a huge market to work from and a rap mogul who is meant to be able to recruit stars who are fans of his music….yet I still don’t know any Nets fans.

Anyhow, they’re too easy to bash so I’m gonna ask a legit question.

Who should they take at #55. In most cases, you don’t get squat that late in the draft but when so much depends on getting at least a rotation player, you’d think the Nets would make the right choice.

I like Ante Zizic….Michael Gbinije, Gary Payton II and a couple of under the radar prospects in Jenky Vois and Emmauel Malou.

Like I said…you probably don’t get much bang for your buck at pick #55 but…1 thread a year won’t kill us.

    Thoughts?

Also off topic…Has the Nets dismal performance ruined Jay Z’s street cred? Seems like Drake has taken over his spot at the top of the game and relegated Jay Z to the Grandfather League.

I think that Zizic, Gbinije and GP2 will all be gone be pick 55 but if one of them fell it would be a no brainer. One question I have is are the Nets going to draft a more NBA ready player to contribute or a raw, fully potential based player?

Hmmm….I think they gotta go with someone who is ready to contribute straight away and can fill a spot as an 8th-12th man once the team is back on track. That player theoretically should develop nicely given the amount of minutes that should be available.

They’re probably past the stage of being embarassed about that Garnett and Pierce Trade, so I don’t think losing a lot of games and giving up a high pick is no longer a problem for them. That being said, I think a high floor guy like Perry Ellis, Marcus Paige etc could also be a decent pick.

shawn long, damion lee, unuaku and niang to name a few.. ron baker might still be there..if anything he’ll replace plumlee as a fan favorite…rosco allen of standford has gotten some positive feed backs after his workouts.thats why he remained in draft…ty wallace is underrated..so is quarterman, they both could be there when nets make their choice..

BPA would seem the logical choice and to guess who may be available then is just pure guesswork.

I wonder if the Nets might look to buy into the draft or even try to pull off a trade to get some picks in, Brook Lopez we know has decent trade value and Thad Young would be worth a first rounder I’d think.

A better question is…does it really matter who the Nets take at #55?

But in all seriousness, the mock has Perry Ellis still available at that point and I’d take a flier on him as he could come in and help right away plus he is a name that fans will recognize since he’s been at Kansas for well over a decade.

I’m just hoping, for the sake of Nets’ fans everywhere, that they don’t take a draft and stash Euro player there that has no hope of ever coming over to the NBA.  That would only make things worse for them as they aren’t going to be good this year anyway, at least let the fans watch a rookie develop.

There are always players who go undrafted who make NBA rosters so the Nets will certainly be doing their due dilligence with the 55th selection. Maybe they swing for the fences and hope they can teach Derrick Jones Jr how to play the game and how to shoot.

If either of Finney-Smith, Uthoff or Daniel Hamilton are available it could be interesting. Kay Felder could still be on the board and may be worth a shot.

Keep in mind, the Nets can draft someone and assign them to their now direct affiliate D-League team, making the selection and possibly reaching for upside more realistic. Alpha Kaba if he stays in the draft may be intriguing as well.

Seeing as Sean Marks is the current Nets GM and he’s a Spurs disciple, he may actually be able to turn a late second round pick like #55 into a legitimate player. It will likely be a draft and stash foreign player, but if that player turns out to be a Manu Ginobilli, Goran Dragic, or even a Luis Scola the wait would be worth it at #55.

Didn’t Jay-Z have to sell his stake in the Nets when he started Roc Nation Sports? Technically, he is an agent so I didn’t think he could have any affiliation with a team.

I’d say Perry Ellis, George Niang, Nigel Hayes, or Isaiah Cousins. You’re looking for that Mario Chalmers/ Isaiah Thomas pick down here. They’ll take a heady guy from a good program or grab which ever of the Europeans falls. The Alpha Kaba call above is a good one. It will not be a guy with a gas mask picture.

First of all, I’m still a Nest fan!!!! 😀

I would draft Fred Van Vleet, I think he is still available…

As alternative, a guy like Perry Ellis, Derrick Jones, Dorian Finney-Smith

Not sure he’ll be there, but what about Kay Felder as I.T. 2.0?

Am I the only one who thinks Niang could be decent? By decent I mean: "well… he can play 20 mpg for a non-playoff team", which is a good return for a mid/late 2nd round pick.
