An NBA source on Saturday confirmed an Internet report that the Toronto Raptors have signed Indiana Pacers guard Jarrett Jack to an offer sheet. The Pacers will have seven days to match the offer.

Jack became a serious target for the Raptors once Toronto was able to turn its deal with Hedo Turkoglu into a sign and trade deal with the Orlando Magic as part of Thursday’s four-team trade that also sent Shawn Marion to Dallas.

Because the Turkoglu offer became a sign and trade, the Raptors were able to preserve their mid-level exception ($5.8 million next season), which they used on Jack.

The 25-year-old Jack started 53 games for the Pacers last season, averaging 13.1 points and 4.1 assists. He played his first three seasons in Portland before being traded to Indiana after last year’s draft along with Josh McRoberts for Ike Diogu and Jerryd Bayless.

CBSSports.com. first reported that Toronto had signed Jack.

Wow..I wasn’t expecting this. Pretty good pickup I think. The Raptors better start spending money on a SG though.

I think Jack is a starter, but he would be an elite backup. He has no real weaknesses in his game except he isnt a freak athlete, but he is big so he doesnt have to be. Toronto is trying to build a little!

Jack would be a great addition to the Raptors, let’s hope the Pacers don’t match the offer…As for them needing a starting shooting guard, they just acquired Antoine Wright and Devean George, so either one of them can start at that position, until Derozan gets acclimated to the NBA.

They would use Jack more as that Combo Guard who can pass and shoot.

Neither Wright or George need to be starting. Raptors better pickup a better free agent SG.

Honestly, Wright is a below average starter as well. Rashad McCants would be a good fit

Well the Raptors don’t have to worry about the Pacer’s matching…. the Raptors are way over paying…

    4 years – 20 million for Jack

You’re on point. As a Pacer fan, I know that Jack started a few games alongside TJ Ford at the two spot. They usually finished games with TJ Ford and Jack on the floor together. Jack is definitely a combo/scoring guard. He’s a good pickup for the Raptors, but they overpaid for him. There’s no way Bird will match the offer because we can’t afford to.

Now, I’m worried about my Pacers. Travis Diener now becomes our backup point guard…

Maybe the Pacers will try to sign Ramon Sessions….I think that would be a very good idea.

I wish… I think he’d be a great fit, but I don’t think we can afford him either. He’ll probably get close to or more than Jack.

Gatorheel what did i tell u the raptors are continuing to make moves to get right back in the playoffs and with that u will see their franchise player (c. bosh) back with this team that will be in the mix for the next few yrs.

i still can’t believe u had the nerve to REALLY believe the knicks would be a better team than the raptors in the near future

    Hahahah not you again….jk

Raptors still need to sign an experienced SG. They also could use a little more help in the post.

Just because they are making moves doesn’t mean that Bosh is going to stay.

The Knicks are on the rise….just wait till 2010

Jarret Jack is one of the most underrated players in the entire league. He is a great scorer and is also very commited to defense. He went over 30 a couple times last season and the Pacers did much better when he was on the floor. T.J. Ford really does not fit in with the rest of their team, as I do not consider them to be an uptempo team. Good pick up for the Raptors, but why another point? They should have made an offer to Von Wafer.
