I CALLED GAMEParticipantBrian Shaw to the Lakers as an assistant head coach, He’s helped develop Kenneth Faried, Paul George, Shaw also was an assistant on Phil Jacksons last to championship teams in Los Angeles which also Featured Luke Walton. Shaw played a part in the Lakers 3 peat in the early 2000’s, I believe there building something great in Laker land with the young core and the coaching staff there putting together I have strong belief that the Lakers will end up with Brandon Ingram and he will be mentored by the likes of none other than Kobe Bean Bryant. Brian Shaw will be the one in head of per draft workouts, the only thing is the Lakers Center position they’ll fill it with a quality big in maybe; Whiteside, Ezeli the Future looks oh so bright for the Lakers

HitsterParticipantBrian is an excellent hire by the Lakers, he has filled that role before and is regarded as one of the best assisants in the NBA. I know that things didn’t work out for him in Denver when he took the top job but maybe he is a natural lead Assistant – a role he excels at.
He knows the Lakers well having spent a decade there as a player and on the coaching staff, has worked with Luke Walton before and gives Luke an experienced assisant he knows and trusts.

DolanCareParticipantI didn’t fully grasp what it meant when analysts referred to someone as a ‘player development’ guy. On the Zach Lowe podcast, Jarrod Dudley spoke about Lindsey Hunter’s disastoruous stint as the coach of Phoenix and mentioned him being more of a ‘player development’ coach, he wasn’t saying it postively.
After seeing what Brian Shaw did to that Nuggets team, who were 2nd in the Western Conference the year prior, I am completely on board with what that term means. It depicts someone who can build confidence of young players and/or has the respect to criticize someone for slacking on defense… but also someone who probably shouldn’t have the clipboard in their hands.
