With the pick of Evans to play “point” most scouts still have us drafting john wall if we get the first pick next year. I like that pick but we would have to much talent stacked at the PG position if that happened. If we do draft John Wall, will we be forced to trade K-mart? I love him as a player, but even with him we havent done much. If Evans does what i think he’ll do this year by showing us he’s a SG not a PG, we would have a replacement for K-mart in Evans at SG and a young promissing PG in Wall. We could trade K-mart and unload udrih’s contract for a high lottery pick next year, use the money that we would free up along with K9’s expiring contract to sign a guy like Rudy gay and/or Boozer.

The same thing is going to happen to you guys that happened last year. You will get the worst record in the NBA and then not get the top pick. I’m not saying you will go #4 again, but it rarely happens that the team with the worst record gets the number one pick. Wall will go numero uno next year

I think that would be a superb line. Wall can run the point. You can put evans at SG and have martin play the 3. Or the other way around Martin at the 2 because hes a better shooter. And Evans can be that slashing 3 man who can also dish the ball. Maybe a point-foward. Line up will be extreme quick with wall at the point, and also very athletic with alot of size in the backcourt.

I dont think we can keep all three, evans would be too short to play the 3, and K-mart is to soft to play the 3. I dont even know what we would do with next years draft pick? Evans has huge potential an is our PG, K-mart fills any need at SG, Casspi is a young SF, PF is filled with JT, and Hawes is showing good signs of improvement. The biggest need right now would be SF in my opinion but if we have a top 4 pick we would be reaching for any SF on the board, I think maybe center if Hawes doesn’t come through this season but maybe Donatas Motiejunas?

Who’s more valuable to this Kings team? I think Hawes is and next year they should trade Thomphson and get Donatas Motiejunas in next years draft.

Thompson has already shown he can play. Hawes hasn’t. With thompson you can have a guy that will give you 12-16 points 7-10 boards and if he improves his defense he can be a very good starting power forward. In next year draft either go point because evans isn’t the solution or go center because thats probably your biggest weakness.

I’d keep Hawes because it is so hard to find a center in the NBA now.

I was just thinking about the possibility of the Kings winding up with Wall. It’s a bit baffling to me that with all the talk of comparing Evans to D Wade (a comparison I’m not endorsing at this time, merely referencing) very few people have questioned Tyreke’s ability to play the 1 full time. So I agree with you, OP. I think that Wall and Evans would make a spectacularly athletic backcourt but if you play Martin at the 3 with JT and Hawes, that lineup reminds me a lot of Atlanta’s rotation last year with a major upgrade at the 3 and a major downgrade at the 4. Atlanta was good, but nowhere near good enough to beat a team like the Lakers. The obvious solution I see for Sacramento is to install a rotating three man frontcourt around Evans and load up on three point shooters elsewhere. JT is a good player, but he’s a lousy defender and he won’t attract an extra defender in the paint. I would use him as the 6th man, convert Hawes to the four, and if they do wind up with Wall, trade Martin to New Jersey for Bobby Simmons and their first round pick, use that pick to take Larry Sanders. Now you’ve got Wall, Evans, Garcia, Hawes, and Sanders with Thompson rotating into the 4 when Hawes plays center. Jackson, McCants, and Simmons are your bench players. Nocioni, Udrih, and the rest of the lineup get struck by lightning during a pool party at Brittny Gastineau’s house.

It’s not a perfect plan, but that’s a playoff team. And unless you convince Doug Christie to come out of retirement, how else are you going to get there?

Tyreke Evans isnt a PG. He definitely isnt a SF like someone mentioned earlier, that would be a disaster. He’s a 2-guard, and so is Kevin Martin. And also, if I was deciding who to trade between Thompson and Hawes, I would definitely trade Hawes. He is pretty soft from what I’ve seen. He is a decent offensive player but he isnt a guy thats un-trade-able, because he isnt a good defender and is an average rebounder for his size. Thompson seems like he will be an above average starter for his career though, because he is a better all-around player than Hawes.

I would give a slight edge to Hawes over Thopson. But in reality, they don’t have a single all-star and just need to draft the best player available. Let the players battle it out for minutes, there’s always room for minutes off the bench.

To me both Martin and Evans can play the 3. Both have legitiment size. Evans around 6’6 and Martins 6’7 so why cant they play sf. Think about it if they get wall 6’4, got Evans 6’6, Martin 6’7 thats a pretty nice size backcourt that can cause some problems for opponents. And right now it looks like Sacramento isn’t looking to play much D, so having Evans or Marting guard other SF shoulden’t be a problem.

Kevin Martin is 6’7 correct, but he is 185 lbs and he isnt strong at all. He would get posted all the time and wouldnt be able to stop penetration. He already isnt much of a defender as a 2-guard. Tyreke Evans is 6’4 or 6’5, and would be playing guys that are 6’8” and 6’9″ and he is a 2 guard. Why make him play out of position?

The kings woes started when they handed beno udrih 30 million dollars. They need to rebuild and cut beno, garcia, and maybe martin or nocioni. I think nocioni’s days are limited after the cassapi pick and they already have donte greene, a rashad lewis in time. Picking wall would be nice for next year, but then it would be trails to evans or martin. And for anyone who wants to cut Spencer Hawes, 7 foot centers who have range to twenty three feet are hard to come by. With that ability i think driving lanes for evans and martin are easier to come by

but i feel he is a sg. kevin martin already plays that position. If tyreke plays the point at 20 mins. a game he will lead the league in turnovers, because opposing pg will badger the hell out of him.

Neither Hawes nor Thompson will be traded. Neither Martin nor Evans can play the three. IF the kings get a top five pick next year ((personally I think they’ll improve to about the 6-10 pick)) They will go after the best player available and whoever has the biggest chance of becoming a STAR. They have no huge holes in the roster so they will go best player available. They will play Evans at the point this year. If it works out great if not, Martin may go. He is not untouchable, but I’d guess they’d like to keep him and make it work because of his loyalty to the team and value on offense. I think ideally they pick up a potential “point forward” player, maybe Ebanks or George. That way Evans can stay at the point and the forward can help out with the distributing duties.

Either way they need to get rid of some of there young players and get some veterans with winning attitudes if they want to win. They have too many young players that will take time to develop and the wrong mix of old players that are too far over the hill.

I think Evans Is a PG. He has to work on his asst/turnover ration for sure though. He thrived playing PG for Memphis & I think he will do the same in the NBA. I do think the Kings are going to get a top 5 pick in the 2010 draft. If they get the 1st pick then they need to trade it. A lot of teams will be willing to give up the goods to get Wall. I don’t see Wall & Evans being that effective playing alongside each other. If the Kings get like the 3rd, 4th, or 5th pick then they should look at drafting a big man. I think Sacramento is set with Evans at PG & Martin at SG…no need to change things. I say the Kings should draft a big man in the 2010 draft because I am not sold on Hawes or Thompson at all. I see both of them as high quality backups really. So Sacramento should draft somebody like Favors. Another thing, the Kings need better depth in the post, at PG, & at SG. This team has to many holes to make the playoffs anytime soon. Maybe in 4 years or so we will see SAC back in the playoffs. I would trade Thompson if it was up to me…I think you could get some good value back for him right now.
