Unlikable Players

James Harden, Amar’e Stoudemire and Joakim Noah all come to mind. My biggest dislike is when NBA players are hated because of there greatness (Lebron, Curry etc). When fans can not just simply appreciate greatness, I struggle to see their appreciation of the game. I do dislike different players style of play, but I couldn’t really say I had hatred towards a player.

But then again, there is the money thieving, soft, team screw over called Dwight Howard.

 I’ve never really liked Lebron as a person, he actions bug me. James Harden has joined my list of annoying players recently. His game while effective offensively is a bore to watch. Rajon Rondo joined my unlikable player list way back when he busted Brad Millers’ nose and didn’t even get ejected. Dwyane Wade used to be one of my favorite players but he enters the unlikable players list from time to time with his bs actions.

 1. Kendrick Perkins- He complains on literally (not figuratively) every foul he is called on. Last few years in OKC he acted as an enforcer setting hard screens and getting into it with the opposinging big guys. Common thread is that all enforcer types have to foul to be an enforcer. It’s just part of the role. But he will purposely foul people and then complain when he is called on it. I watched all of Shaq’s carrer, there is no shame in hugging a guy to keep him from shooting and say "Hey, earn it on the line." But when Perkins does it, he acts like he should have been called for an obvious foul.

2. Retired hate- Rip Hamilton- I’ve hated him ever since he made that great UCONN March Madness run while averaging a whopping 0.7 assists per game. The 20 points/ 0.7 assists were so lopsided that it went against my principals that basketball players should be well rounder to best help their team. In retrospect, that was probably the first time I saw a true "specialist" playing at a high level and it bugged me. He didn’t rebound, didn’t play defense and certaintly didn’t pass, like ever. So, I ended up not liking him, even after he had a solid run of a couple years for my Bulls.

Jason Kidd was a guy that I never really liked. Hell of a player and I obviously respected his ability on the court. My dislike for him stems more from the fact that although he always went out his way to portray a classy image to the public, you could definitely tell he was a major d-bag behind the scenes.

 Dwayne Wade was my favorite player in his first 5 seasons or so. Although he really got conceded fast. He has had many unprofessional stints with the media most recently taking shots during the Canadian Anthem which Im not too upset about as other Canadians but either way its inappropriate.

 I can’t stand Blake Griffin or Chris Paul.  Grant it, they are both guys that I would love to chill with outside the basketball court as they seem like fun loving upstanding individuals…(well I guess the jury is out on Blake with that one as well).

To be honest there’s not many NBA stars that I think I would like on a personal level. MJ, Pippen, Bird, Malone, Barkley, Kobe, Lebron, Garnett all seem kind of like arrogant douchebags if not outright a-holes.  Oof…unlikeable players. There’s a bunch. And a lot of them I don’t have great reasons for. There’s a lot of guys I just don’t like to watch because their style of play annoys me but I’ll go with the guys that I dislike because they seem like turds for this thread. 

Harden is an easy one. He’s, for me, the most unlikeable guy in the game at this point. He diminishes his teammates to "just role players", he plays no defense, he needs the ball in his hands at all times – that to me is the encapsulation of everything that could be wrong about basketball. 

I’m sure I’ll get the "hater" label but I can’t stand LeBron. Maybe it’s because I’m tired of him winning all the time and all the stupid drama that constantly follows him (like the unfollowing the team on twitter) but everything about LeBron just screams "I’m an attention whore". The way he acts during games is off putting, everytime he makes a shot or dunks, he has to stare into the crowd with that smug look, even the way he approaches his free agency. He always signs one-year deals, and I know its so he can maximize money, but part of me thinks he can’t stand the idea of another guy being the main attraction for an offseason. There’s always going to be people waiting for him to make his decision…I think he likes having that power. Maybe that’s a total projection on my part but I just get an annoying vibe from him. 

It’s a shame because he seems incredibly smart and he’s a hell of a player. He just annoys me. 

I don’t mind Steph Curry, but seriously does he ever actually have his mouth guard in his mouth? Literally every single shot of him, he’s got that effing mouth guard out and it annoys the hell out of me. I also do sense that there’s a little more to him than the little cute kid that wasnt recruited out of high school and just worked really hard. I feel like he does have some of that arrogence to him, but its subtle enough for now that I don’t get bothered by him.

 I’m not to fond of Carmelo Anthony after I really liked him at ‘cuse. I think he’s selfish and all he likes to do is get his points. Coulda resigned with the Knicks for a little less money so they coulda brought some help around him. I remember how pissed he was when they drafted kristaps and then Melo realized he could ball and started liking him phony move right there. I dislike Kobe he to was selfish and when he couldn’t carry teams on his back he just went to get his stats. Like when kobs’ teams were bad they were really bad not even competitive that’s why I give Lebron the edge over Kobe cause LBJ took some bad teams and at least got them into the playoffs. Other players that rubbed me the wrong way. Deron Williams really liked him a lot when with the jazz became total bum when he went to BK. Steve Kerr the coach I don’t like I think he’s really arrogant I think I could roll out basketballs and coach GS. Eddy Curry totally lazy didn’t like him. Believe it or not I dislike Steph Curry cause he has a squeaky clean image there has to be some dirt on this guy and the fact that I’m hearing that he’s better than Michael Jordan totally bugs me.
