negguaryParticipantLooks like he’s officially coming over to the sixers this summer! Don’t know much about him, but that’s a move in a pustule direction for the sixers! I believe this is the summer the rebuild starts to come into fruition. Hopefully next embid is healthy! Too bad heinke won’t see the fruit of his labor.
By by the way does this affect the way the sixers draft? Does this mean if they get one they lean more towards Ingram who fits better with the team and may or may not have more upside then Simmons anyway. TTM

OhCanada-ParticipantPeople are sleeping on Saric. He has proven to be amongst the elite players in every form of competition throughout his career and will instantly become a core piece of their rotation with very good upside. I’m just as exited to watch his first game as I am to watch Embiid.
The thing a lot of people forget about Saric is even with his passing skills, ball handling and versatility that makes him so intriguing offensively his best skill is still rebounding which is the most translatable skill amongst NBA prospects and players.
He will be in the NBA for a long time.

European BasketballerParticipantI like Saric a lot, but what you claim about him is absolutely not true at all. He was never among elite players with senior Croatia national team (World Cup, EuroBasket), and he has never been among elite players in Turkish League or Euroleague.
The only times he was an elite player were when he played in Croatia’s JUNIOR national teams, and when he played in Adriatic League.
He is far from the level of "elite" players so far when he played in World Cup, EuroBasket, Euroleague, and even Turkish League.
I like him a lot as a player, but he is in no way close to being an elite player in the competitions he currently plays in (Euroleague / Turkish League).

Hype MachineWheres the official report?
I’m cynical anyone would give up so much money to play on the worst team in the NBA until he makes it 100% official himself.
And if he does do that…its still a bad move.

negguaryParticipantyou just have a lot of hate for the sixers…in starting to think it’s because deep inside you see something with our rebuild and realize that your jazz won’t get over the hump because you stuck with the pre-heinke process. Like as a fan of the game and young prospects you should just be happy that he’s coming to play in the best league in the world and we get to watch him more often, in addition to potentially raising the competition level in the A.

Hype MachineSounds a journalist made a short tweet based on a source who who spoke to a teammate. And Newsites started running with it like it can’t be wrong.
I’m not prepared to believe it until I hear the man himself confirm it. That sounds like Chinese Whispers to me.

RUDEBOY_Participantdario’s per 36 over his last 9 gms 22pts/11rbs/50%fg/50%3pointers/90%ft…
he reminds me of former all star detleff schrempf.

vulture711ParticipantThe bad is seemingly everyone who is decent on the Sixers plays the same spot. Even Covington is probably best as a stretch 4 – never mind Noel, Grant, Oak and Holmes
This team really needs 1,2 and 3
Would love to offer the Magic a deal to get Hezonja

For_Never_EverParticipantAm I the only person that think he is being over hyped ? I’ve seen so many post about him, and most read the same. I’m not going to pretend like I’ve seen more other than Youtube vids. What level is the Turkish league? He plays like a SF, but really is a below average athlete by NBA standards with short arms. I don’t see a real post game. I don’t know about his rebounding being so translatable in the NBA since he doeasn’t look like to me to be overwelmly strong or wide.

vulture711Participantthough once in awhile it’s nice to add a guy who just knows how to play – who can make the right pass or hit a jumper if he’s open. I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen Grant – a great athlete – catch a ball on the wing and be unable to knock down a basic jumper and instead drive into a crowd and get called for a charge
Freak athletes are around – guys who just know how to play are harder to find

European BasketballerParticipantHe’s a good player for sure, but yes, in USA sports media and sites he is super overrated. Turkish League is a pretty good league as far as the level of the player’s talent and ability, but it’s quite bad in terms of coaching, tactics, defense, etc.
Saric is for certain a good player, but he is far, far from being the best player in Europe, and even far, far from being even considered in that discussion. But NBA and US media have been claiming for the last 2 years he was the best player in Europe. So yes, the hype and overrating of him is a bit ridiculous.
Finally, he does not play SF ever. He never plays a single second at SF. He plays PF mostly, and some small ball tyoe C ocassionally, although he gets burned really bad on defense if he plays at C. But he never plays SF at all.

ExumInfernoParticipantThe moment the Hinkie Plan starts working and they are a possible playoff team, no Hinkie.
If they have three healthy centers, Saric, a high pick or two from this draft, Stauskas remembers how to shoot, they could win a lot more next season. They are starting from a low number, so even 20 more wins won’t be great, for total wins.

HitsterParticipantHe has a very good all round game and will play mainly at PF but even if they do draft Simmons they can fit everyone in I think. Simmons would play more SF and then run a 4 man frontcourt rotation of Noel, Embiid, Saric and Okafor.

CDPHParticipantSaric is a nice player and I’m excited to have him coming over, but he doesn’t change draft plans one bit. If you’re sitting at #1, you still have to take Simmons and then let things work themselves out.
When you win 10 games in a season, you don’t go picking for need.
Let’s play it out with the team taking Simmons at #1. Best case, Embiid is looks great in 25 or so minutes a night and Saric is the player we think he is. At that point you have a lot of talent and can start dealing guys (I would guess Noel) to fill other holes.
Honestly, even is Embiid, Simmons and Saric play extremely well and finish 1-2-3 in ROY voting next year, this team will still only win 25-30 games. Young teams traditionally don’t win a ton. But at that point the future looks a whole lot brighter.
