valentineWill anyone ever hire him if he flames out at Texas Tech? In case you don’t get the reference, his tenure as head coach of UNLV lasted six f*ck*ng days!!!

Robb_CParticipantUNLV is a terrible gig.. Chris Beard is a terrific coach, he turns programs around at the d3,juco and D1 level very quickly..

ph90702How is it a terrible gig when you can land five star recruits?

Robb_CParticipantOf course UNLV is going to land 5 star recruits.. Its Las Vegas.. The program isnt very sustainable average facilities etc etc.. Its been and will continue to be a spot where coaches build a name and leave..

ph90702If the facilities are average, then why does Team USA train there?

Robb_CParticipantThe same reason UIC/moody bible institute hold the NBA draft camps.. UIC and Moody are ok facilities as well why does the NBA hold it there? Because theyve established relationships..Between Las Vegas summer league and Team USA practices Vegas is pretty busy.. But its not because of the facilities its because of the location and the fact lots of shakehakes and networking is done during the summer league games.. Ive always told guys want to get your foot in the door with the NBA?? Go to Summer League in Vegas.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantPeople will be all up in arms about this but really beard didn’t do anything wrong. He had no idea the Texas tech job would be available when he took the job at unlv. In the real world, if you agree to take a job and then a better job becomes available, it’s not like you are forced to stay at the first job because you agreed to take that job. Why should college bball coaches be held to a higher standard?
