It’s been a while since there was much chatter around Rose, which is generally a good thing for him, but he’s been able to get through the season and has played pretty decent this season, so that’s a win for him this year. He’s not the most effecient or effective player, but he’s still capeable of having some big scoring nights. Long term, he might be best as a 6th man who gets to put up a lot of shots with the second unit. He isn’t ever going to be the player he was when he won MVP, but he’s still a fine player. I think for Rose and Chicago it would be best for both if he was traded. I believe he will be on his last year of his current deal, and while he has an overrpriced salary, with the cap going up and a 1 year gamble, it’s a worth while risk in my opinion. Where do you think are some spots that could have interest in taking Rose for a test run? and what do you think his trade value is?

Brooklyn seems like the team that would have the most interest since they have no draft picks and are already horrible they have nothing to lose gambling on Rose. I’m sure Chicago will be happy taking whatever they can get for Rose. Memphis could be an option if Conley signs elsewhere.

Honestly, nobody should take him.  The only thing he’s really good for is being a positive influence on younger players.  Whoever pays him is going to pay too much.

He isn’t worth the price. He isn’t a top PG anymore, and to me looks like an average NBA player now. I’m not sure about that postitive influence on younger guys either. He is a really quiet loner, rarely shows emotion or passion on the court now. If you listen to him talk or statements he has made, it looks like he has his mind set that he already has one foot out the door from the game.

No way is Rose worth the Gamble.

In fact the word gamble implies theres a chance of winning.

The trade itself would be incredibly hard to orchestrate.

Hes inefficient and on a ruthless contract. The Bulls would have to give up a first rounder at least just to offload it to a rebuilding team with unlimited cap space. Probably substantially more.

Have a look again at how much he earns. I can name better options that are a quarter of the price. Hes not a bad player…just an average one making max money.

Rose is still better than 65% of the point guards in the league!!!!!!! Making him a sixth man is flat out CRAZEe!!! Winchester O. Wong a writer on my mining staff wrote a piece on Fred  hoiberg’s hiring and it predicted he wouldn’t be a good hire!!!!!!!!

Wait what, so he says better than 65%,of other points in the league and you respond with do you have him as a top 10 pg in the league, because i dont? He is just saying rose is still better than most pgs, and that’s true. To be honest there are 75-90 pgs in the league. Considering a lot don’t even play, for most of you to say rose is this player who can’t contribute or go to losing teams seems idiotic. I would take maybe 15-17 pgs over rose if he can’t get right, but the way you guys put it sounds stupid unfair.

I’m thinking, and majority of us are thinking about starters. If you wanna waste your time with bench players, and D- league talent go ahead just seems  unnecessary and perhaps stupid on your end.

Derrick Rose isn’t very good anymore, and it doesn’t take a neuro-surgeon to see that. His explosiveness is all but gone, he’s an ok shooter, but he’s inconsistent and still injury prone. He’s not as good as Brandon Knight, Eric Bledsoe, Jeff Teague, Reggie Jackson, or any of those 2nd tier guys.

He’s more like on the level of Ricky Rubio, Deron Williams, George Hill, Jordan Clarkson, etc.

His explosiveness isn’t "all but gone." That’s utter horsht.  If I’m not mistaken (correct me if I’m wrong), you’re a contributor to this site, so you should be a little more observant than that.  He’s still quicker, faster and stronger than most PGs in the league.  He lost a bit, moreso in terms of vertical explosion, but his loss of athleticism is not the main issue, nor is it as drastic as you’re making it out to be.  His issue is that he has tried to alter his game so that there is less stress on his body, which includes eliminating a lot of the high torque moves in his game, less throwing his body into defenders, taking hard hits, his minutes being managed more and simply not playing if he’s not feeling 100%.  He’s just not skilled enough and his game hasn’t evolved enough mentally to be consistently effective playing that style.  Also, when he and Jimmy were 100% this year, Jimmy was clearly the better player which means less possessions for Derrick.  Ever since Rose broke through in the pros, he never had to defer or learn to play off of the team’s best player.  Rose’ off-the-ball game in a word, sucks, primarily bc he can’t catch and shoot.

As for other points made in this thread, no, his contract isn’t "horrible" for the simple fact that he only has 1 year left on it.  That is not a long term investment at all and could be enticing for another team looking at 2017 FA and want to get rid of contracts.

He’s not a top 10 PG in the league. If he’s an average PG, he’s barely that.

I don’t think he’s a difference maker anymore, especially if his skill/mental game doesn’t improve and if he continues to try to play this self-preservationist style. I don’t think it really matters where he goes.  Come 2017 I think he’ll just be a hired gun, passed around like a Monta Ellis.

D-Rose has played solidly this season but his performances haven’t been near what his MVP peak is. Also he has worryingly had a lot of niggles that have kept him out of several odd games or a couple of games. He has played more games this season than he did in the previous 3 which is a good sign. But he’s still playing at around the same level he did last season.

He has tried to refine his game to reduce wear and tear on his body as GBee says. He has lost that bit of explosiveness that gave him his edge and this is probably the result. D-Rose plays a certain way and to transform his game totally would take time, he couldn’t become a pass first PG who had a great 3 point range overnight. But those are facets of his game he should really work on and if his mid range to 3 point shooting improved he could easily be a 20ppg player again.

I just wonder if he has lost a little desire after all the injuries. We don’t know how much pain he is having to play through either. Next year is contract year for him so we’ll see what sort of form he is in then.

I more than anyone want to see as near to D-Rose MVP again but I wonder if that will ever happen. If it doesn’t and he stays sound, he can take a role on a suitable team and try for a title or two. He had his rookie deal, a huge 2nd deal and made a lot through commercial activities so doesn’t need to chase big pay days.

If however playing on long term will give him issues in later life then I hope he’d be sensible enough to know if he cannot withstand the NBA schedule anymore.
