negguaryParticipantMy childhood favorite has been officially named to the 2016 HOF class! Much deserved and changed the culture of the game AFTER Jordan left and kept it popping. I was afraid they were going to Terrell Owens him!

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantWell deserved. There will always be those who just don’t like iverson and never will. They will say he was a bad teammate, an inefficient gunner, a problem off the court, bad influence in the locker room, etc. and there are truths to all those arguments.
However, when you look at what he was able to accomplish at his size it is basically unprecedented in the history of the game. Not only was he maybe the most important cultural icon and influential player of his generation, he was also an extremely productive player who was clearly among the games elite for a decade. If yao Ming is a first ballot Hall of famer ( and not taking anything away from yao) there is absolutely no logical argument that can be made why Iverson shouldn’t be one.

TravelinTravParticipantAI was the best pound for pound scorer ever. I’ve even made the arguement he’s the best pure scorer ever. (Jordan fans quickly disagree) AI was great, started a new generation in the NBA and basketball. Sixes vs. Raptors one of the best conference finals of all time. Is great when a 6′ person can make it in the NBA even better when they thrive and become a top 50 player.

Mr. ChicagoParticipantOne of my favorite players – I had the patent leather blue reebok’s back in the day (here: http://www.sneakerwatch.com/article/21532/the-answer-the-best-of-allen-iversons-sneakers/149598/ )
Does anyone have any links to the old stories about Iverson, like Tin Legler telling stories about him going out drinking all night and then showing up to the arena and dropping 40. I would love to see or read some old clips or articles.

dazeoneParticipantI have a physical therapist that was the team trainer at the time AI was there. He said it was nothing for AI to come in from AC and sweat out a fifth of Hennessey at shoot around and after halftime light everyone up for 30+. I used to see him ride around North Philly 22nd and Lehigh in his Bentley and see him at most of the goings around in the city.We are close in age …he was a real dude.

NBAjunkie81Participantlived….. at barely 6’0” & 160 lbs he relentlessly attacked Much bigger & stronger players at the Rim……
How many times a game would Iverson fall out of the sky & land w/ a thud on the hardwood b/c he refused to stop driving to the rim……
He played the way he lived which was 100 mph & he never backed down from anyone……
Iverson represented the tough town he played for – Philadelphia – perfectly……… Tatted up, corn rows, unyileding, ferocious……
A tortured soul who luvs children & quietly does so much for Charity in Virginia & Phila……… Bubba Chuck was a cultural icon & a Hero to a generation of kids…. especially those from the inner city who Loved Iverson b/c he would never conform……
Enshrined forever, where he belongs, among the Greats of the Game…..
