Looking at the Raptors season so far and prospects available do you opt for potential when drafting or do you go for fit and someone who helps right away?

Potential: When picking in the top ten there are quite a few options for PFs. You already have Scola, Patterson and to a lesser extent Carroll and Johnson. Do you use the pick on Skal or Rabb and let them develop?

Contributor: You could also add a lower ceiling but more complete player like Ellenson or Brice Johnson.

This assumes Bender and Sabonis are already of the board. I’d takSabonis if he was available.

    What would you do?

Toronto would currently be picking10th for some reason Aran’s mock has them and Denver in the wrong place. I agree that a PF is probably their biggest need as Scola is pushing 36 and other PFs on their roster are having to cover SF as well with Carroll out. Toronto also own 26th pick so combining both pcks to move up a few spots might be possible but with other teams having multiple picks then better offers for teams higher in the draft may be likely, so I’ll assume they pick 10th and 26th.

Brice Johnson an NCAA senior at 11th on the current site mock looks a decent call, his comparison is Taj Gibson so if Brice could be a solid first big man from the bench type player then he’d be a good choice. Jacob Poeltl has fallen downmocks recently but I’m sure Toronto would look at him. He could play around the current front court with Jonas and Biyombo playing some PF when Poeltl was on court or Poeltl who is a good athlete for his size could play some PF.

Sabonis, Bender or Rabb would be no brainer picks if they were still available and Skal may be considered if the Raptors are prepared to give him time.

If Jaylen Brown was still available then he’d be a likely pick for the Rapors, Dejounte Murray would give Lowry and DeRozan a nice back up option, Malik Beasley and Furkan Korkmaz could be options too especially if they think DeRozan might move on during FA.

With 26th pick I’d go the opposite of 10th pick so if you’d taken a big at 10 take a backcourter or swingman at 26 and vice versa.

Toronto won’t have much cap space if they resign DeRozan so I don’t see them trading the picks for a proven player unless it was someone still on a rookie deal or witha very cap friendly salary.

If you want Sabonis, he should be available.

Personally for the raps i would take Rabb or Ellenson, they play older than they are, they rebound, easy midrange game.

Ellenson could play stretch 4 in a few years, high IQ, he can handle.

Both can play with or without the ball, if Derozan is back, you better know how to play without the ball to fit in.

With the late first, the likes of Prince, Bembry, Blossomgame, Hayes or an eurostash, there’s some solid options.

Depends on Derozan/biyombo, re-upped or not, maybe they’ll draft a C without giving biz his money, Poeltl should be the pick or Stone/Zubac/Zimmerman/Jones/Zizic with the late first, all these croatians are for real, frenchies are not bad either….
