Sharp ShooterParticipantJust looking at the East vs. West record….
If the 8th place pacers was in the West, they would be in the 6th place. If the pistons were in the west they would be in 5th, and so forth. Now, in the East its been a tight race since the beginning of the season. Only real threats in the West who have a chance to represent the West are GSW and Spurs. GSW have had a great season, and continue to thrive. Spurs are always a threat as long as duncan playing. I’m not buying into the clippers, especially with past history with underperforming in playoffs. Memphis hasn’t had a greats season with Gasol missing. Portland still needs a big man, McCollum and Lillard needs help. Theres turmoil in houston, and
For the East, it could potentially be a toss up because I’m not sold on Cavs skating through to finals with ATL, Raptors(especially with Carroll coming back), Boston, who have been a underdog the entire season and have exeeded expectations thus far under potential COY Brad Stevens, and well deserved all star, Isiah Thomas. Also, Miami still is a threat too because they have some weapons to contend(johnson, Wade, Bosh, Whiteside, Deng, and even stoudemire has a little bit left). The young Pistons are surging after the Tobias Harris trade. and emergence of Drummond, its only a matter of time until they grow.
Are the West still considered as the "powerhouse conference", or does the East still have to wait
Thoughts?

ChewyParticipantare easily the best. In a normal year, the Spurs would have the top record in the league. But this isn’t a normal year. Many people have OKC over Cleveland too.
So since the West has the top 3 teams in the league, I still say they are the powerhouse.

NBAjunkie81Participant& it’s been So much fun to watch these young teams in Both Conferences make major strides to improve…… But Golden State & San Antonio look like the best Two teams by a Mile…….
It reminds me of WAY back in the day when the Dallas Cowboys & the San Fransico 49ers met in the NFC Championship Game 4 years in a row……. & Every fan on the Planet KNEW that the NFC Championship game between those two was the DeFacto Super Bowl…..
I just don’t see how Any team stops the Spurs & Warriors from meeting in the Western Conf Finals….. & I don’t see how Any team from the East stops the winner of that Series…..

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that the warriors-spurs will meet in the Western conference finals. Okc could still provide the spurs with a very difficult second round matchup. They have generally struggled against them in the past. I wouldn’t necessarily bet on okc to win but i definitely don’t see it being a cakewalk for San Antonio either.
A healthy clippers team could theoretically provide some problems for golden state in the second round as well.

zolaParticipantHealthy Grizzlies and Clippers are still better than any team at the East beside Cavs, not to mention Warriors, Spurs and Thunder
