I want to start off by saying that I am a Ben Simmons fan, and would like to see him improve his jumper so he can live up to his immense potential! I have made several threads about how good he is. in addition to this I’m a sixers fan who would hope to get the best prospect not the most popular. Therefore, I had to remove the emotion and look at the facts and I came to the conclusion that Brandon Ingram could go number one, especially if Ben Simmons didn’t show the ability to shoot a jump shot. I’ve had several convos on and off this site with Ben Simmons optimists, in which, they all say they would take Ben over Brandon hands down even with the lack of a jumpshot and attitude issues. My question today is if Brandon Ingram counties to average 20+ points in the tournament and they get to the final four would you still not consider Brandon for the number one pick?

ingram making it to the final 4 wouldnt be a reason to place him over simmons…i think both guys will be all stars..but simmons overall game and iq makes him unique…the dude can put up 15 pts/10rbs/8assts and people will still say he had a bad game…and if he puts in the work, his jumper will improve..

many great players continue expanding their game as their career went on..i remember when karl malone entered the nba, people said he didnt have a post game.but he added it and became an all time great…

with all that being said, your still negating the fact that Ingram will improve upon his game as well and still has tremendous upside to an already pretty polished game. That’s the point I’m trying to make that when we have these convos, Ben Simmons supporters are quick to point to his upside like Brandon doesn’t have just as much upside and he’s only 19! So here’s the question that I can’t ever get Simmons supporters to even answer who really has the best chance to reach their potential: PLAYER A, who already has a developed and consistent jumpshot, good ball handling skills with great height wingspan and defense, rebounds pretty good and is a capable passer, or PLAYER B,  great passing ability proven rebounder on the college level, great ball handling skills, subpar defense and no jumpshot?

Brandon is getting the love and attention because he’s still playing.. But people can’t forget Simmons production as well.. But Ingram looks like a beast man. If I’m the Sixers I take Ingram 1 because of the need.

Has anybody seen a better player than Tyler Ulis? Why isn’t he at or near the top of the draft list?

Your teams success or lack there of, in college has little to do with where you end up getting drafted in the NBA.

So no it doesn’t really matter how far Duke goes in the tournament. That won’t be the deciding factor in picking Brandon over Ben.

We’ve seen what they both can do on the college level. Their respective skill sets and deficiencies. Now it’s about the honest  measurements, workouts and interviews.

I’m a huge Sixers fan as well and I tend to lean towards Simmons. It’s close but you can’t teach the vision that Simmons has. I enjoy the star player who’s willing to give up the ball to his teammates, it’s most often contagious and leads to good team play.

It’ll be their workouts and interviews that ends up separating the 2 of them.

You must be new to this draft stuff lol, we’ve seen numerous players have their stock elevated by a tournament performance. Of course it’s not the end all be all, but big play in tourney time has helped hella people as where bad play has dropped many players too. James McAdoo could’ve been a top 10 pick had he declared after his freshman year.

Simmons shot 67% on free throws.

    Ingram is at 67.5%.

So while Ingram is great from outside he does have flaws and he doesn’t beat Simmons at the foul line as he should by a lot.

Simmons also gets to the line twice as much.

If Ingram was shooting 50% from the field and 80% from the foul line he could be the top pick, but he isn’t.

Maybe if Duke wins it all, and Ingram scores more than G Allen, then Ingram can be top pick.  That is unlikely, but Ingram is also close to a lock for pick 2 with nobody a chance to push him to 3.

No team can gamble with Ingram over Simmons.  Anyway, with the 76ers, maybe they are just like the old Lakers and they have the center and need the tall passer to get the ball to him.

Lock in Simmons at 1 and Ingram at 2.  The fun for everyone should be the next 11 picks.  Who will go at 3?  That is impossible to figure out.

These are both great players, but I honestly believe that Simmons was criminally misused while at LSU and it made for the wide open NBA game.  Ingram is going to be a very nice consolation prize though.

Draft Ben and play him like the Bucks are currently playing the Greek freak. Play him at pg on offense and PF/SF on defense while surrounding him with y’all shooters and versatile multi positional wings
