r377ParticipantWhat do the Bucks do in the offseason ?
They have three nice pieces in Giannis, Middleton and Parker. Monroe is getting some hate but the guy wasn’t too far off from making the all-star team in Detroit. He is a good post player and passer. He is not a centre or shot blocker, he is best at PF. He is also a good locker room guy – how many guys making $17mill per season would be happy to come off the bench ?
They have $36 mill to play with in the offseason:
Henson, Bayless, Mayo and Vasquez come off the books, they might sign one or two of them.
I think they need a 3D pg/sg who can guard the opponents PG and a centre. They also need depth and shooting. They have the 10th or 11th pick probably.
Whiteside, Howard or Horford could all be options at centre. Noah, Ezili, Mahinmi and Mozgov are other options, as is getting Zaza back.
They could try and send Monroe and their 10th pick to the Kings for Cousins – WCS and Monroe would work well upfront for the Kings. Personally I am not a Cousins fan. I am not sure the Bucks would be heaps interested on potentially ruining some good young players and chemistry for Cousins.
They need 3 point shooting, Vaughn is nice but need some more help spacing the floor. Conley, Jeremy Lin, Courtney Lee, Afflalo, Eric Gordon, Kevin Martin.
They have the 10th/11th pick which they might try for a young centre. Poeltl, Skal, Zimmerman, Stone could be options here.
Thought on what they should do in the offseason ?

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantI actually think Henson has a extension that’s kicks in at 11 million

properbreaksParticipantTo me they’ve made good offseason deals and draft moves the last 3 years. I hear people talk about how terrible Monroe is just like they say how terrible Carter Williams is and my point is this is a painting with only 10 percent of the painting done. You don’t even know what it’s going to be unless someone told people what the picture is going to be at the end.
People even downed Parker and I couldn’t get it. Now Parker and the Greek Freek are going bananas and people are starting to see what was in place already. If they get a good a high pick I say rock with it, but if they pick in the latter part of the lottery it’s almost best player available. If it’s in the back part of the lottery trust me, it’s a complimentary piece that they are drafting. Maybe they can be more, but it’s no glaring weakness in my opinon.
If you don’t see Middleton and Parker as better shooters in the future, then I don’t know why they drafted them in the first place. It’s like people are saying that they are going to draft someone in the draft who’s instantly going to be Steph Curry or JJ Reddick. It doesn’t go that way usually. They have to GROW to be those players and they already have them in Middleton and Parker.
Put the ball in Parker’s and the Freaks hands and let them grow over the years. They’ll get better and they’ll make the playoffs. Monroe can fit in despite how people talk about how bad he is now. He won’t look bad when Parker and the Freek are putting them on their backs and Middleton is playing well.

kazamParticipantI’ll be curious to see how the lottery plays out. If the Bucks can snag a guard who can shoot it (Jamal Murray) it could be huge for them. If Wade Baldwin came out I think he could be an intriguing option for them as well. Same with Shake Milton from SMU.
I have a feeling their free agency aspirations are going to largely be affected by their draft order/picks.

Hype MachineI think theyll look at signing Delly as a free agent. Leave Greek Freak as the playmaker and have Delly (highest catch & shoot % in the L) take 3’s and defend PGs.
Bucks tried to swing a trade for him this year…but Cavs didnt play ball.
They should draft Ivan Rabb…insanely underrated. Might not fall that far. Definitely not Skal. Hes as stiff as viagra and moves like bambi on ice.

MattHoopsParticipantCan Giannis be the answer at point guard?

cjwParticipantLarry sanders retiring at 25 is really screwing them over. Extremely hard to find a rim protector nowadays.

HitsterParticipantHenson is a high energy defensive guy but he’s not really a C. If they are looking for a defensive rim protector then they aren’t far off Poetel’s draft range at the moment or they could look to get a veteran in who would just play defence and let the younger guys do the running. Someone like Tyson Chandler might be better suited to a team like the Bucks than a struggling Phoenix side.
I still agree that a shooter is needed, Murray in the draft would be a decent choice as Hield will likely be gone when the Bucks draft.
Boston have a few guys with nice 3 point range and have assets so if Monroe was moved then a fairly easy trade is there.
