is that all the other GMs will chalk up his off the court issues to the 76ers culture of losing and losing on purpose. You could see it in Oak’s eyes the second the 76ers selected him.

I’m sure every GM would love to add Oak to their team, for the right price. And assume that the off the court stuff would end with him on their team.

A torn meniscus is not really that big of a deal. It is an injury that will keep you out six weeks. Russell Westbrook tore his mensicus in 2013 and he is doing fine. Gallinari, Jeremy Lin and Eric Bledsoe are also cases of players coming back fine from this injury.

Rose tore his meniscus twice but that was after he tore his ACL in 2012 playing against the Sixers in the playoffs. If Okafor establishes a pattern of knee injuries I will be worried but as of right now I am not all that concerned.

As much as I like Nerlens Noel I think he could really play up his value at the end of this season. If they could get a quality guard prospect or draft pick for him you might have to move him based on the big man heavy roster they currently have.

If you’re going to tear anything in the knee it might as well be a meniscus.  Most sportsmen come back from this without any worry.  When i first saw it the headline read Okafor – knee injury, out for season I thought the life of a sixers fan couldn’t get any worse but then I read it was a meniscus and came to the realization that the season is nearly over anyway.

This is all the more reason the 76ers can’t trade any of their big guys, Saric and Embiid are just insurance policies for Noel and Okafor, and Holmes is there to back up all of those guys…

I hope this forces him to lose a couple pounds and improve his mobility and take some weight off those powerful legs, I understand he’s a beast down low but he doesn’t need to carry any extra mass to be dominant

The only reason people are scared of torn meniscuses nowadays is because that’s the injury that cut Brandon Roy’s career short. The difference though is that Roy tore his meniscus twice in both knees. That’s just plain bad luck.

It’s the Sixers. If you play well and your eye twitches, you’ll be out all year.

Hope the Oak returns sound, it was ironic the 76ers won without him last night. I wonder if Danny Ainge was cheering for the 76ers harder than Sam Hinkie was cheering for the Nets in regard to their draft lottery positions.

I have the misfortune of having the 76ers as my local team right now and I’d say it isn’t ironic they won without Okafor. Yes he’s an elite back to the basket bigman and also does well off the dribble too, but he’s pretty weak in the other areas of his game. He doesn’t rebound that well for a guy his size and he’s a below average defender. He slows the team down with his ISO heavy offensive style plus he slows the team on the break. The biggest difficulty is he alters the 76ers defensively because the Sixers defensive ace Nerlens Noel either has to chase the power forward or he’s on the bench when Jahlil is in the game.

I’m really curious to see what the 76ers roster looks like next year under Jerry Colangelo’s management. I wouldn’t be shocked if more than half of the current roster is gone.

I won’t write a mensicus tear isn’t serious (depends on location and severity of tear), but Okafor’s doesn’t sound serious based on what I’ve read. It’s a very small tear and they’re just trimming the tear (based on 6 week recovery time frame).

There’s nothing to play for for the 76ers, so they’d might as well do it now, so he can have a full summer of working out.

If we assume that Okafor is out the rest of this season he’ll then have another 5 plus months to rehab prior to pre-season so will hopefully be good to go opening night.

With Jerry Colangelo there on draft night it will be interesting to see who has final say on moves between him and Hinkie. At least Jerry is a steadying hand and probably has the best contacts in basketball so he can give Hinkie and co good feedback and may get a vet or two in to give the team some locker room leadership. A lot of vets want to chase a title but maybe a player or two who already has a title could be added to give a winning mentality to the team. The T-Wolves have KG and Prince who have been to several finals between them and can just create a positive mentality for a young roster.
