Do you think Gerald Green could be a great player?

His averages were terrible. What makes you think he can get any better? He is physically weak, he is very inconsistent and he seems to lack a killer instinct. Yes, he is very athletic, but he rarely uses his athletic abilities to his advantage. I hate it when I see someone with a 40+inch vertical who never drives and settles for jump shots…You can only say “he is young and can still be good” for so long. Just ask Kwame Brown. A poor 6th/good 7th man at best. To think that this guy HAD Tracy McGrady comparisons coming out of HS. That is why you go to college unless your name is LeBron James!

I think in the system that OKC has set up, He will do well. Also he showed signs in Dallas but did not get enough minutes. He will be fine. I think this early lack of success have helped matured him and he went to a team that is young and growing and has quality players.

Maturity is his issue. He had potential to me BETTER than Tmac! He could have been one of the most prolific scoters in the league! Now, his time will come and he will learn how to play in the NBA but he has slowed his growth as a player and will never reach the potential he once had. Gerald, best of luck to you.

And no he won’t be an All-Star ever. Maybe a starter, but his lack of progress seems to make that unlikely. His PER last year was 11.4.

It does, elevation on your shot. But anyway, I hope he does. I like him even though he has super underachieved. He has sooo much talent, I just dont get why he isnt even a solid bench scorer at least. He has every skill you need on both sides of the ball and he isnt even a player. It amazes me. I hope he gets it one of these days. But I will say one thing, Dallas didnt play him enough. When he got minutes he was a productive offensive player, even though he was mostly a jump shooter. Maybe his next team plays him more, even though he will give up points on defense

The only thing jumping high actually does is help you get off your shot. In fact, jumping high can tire you out quicker, that’s why great leapers rarely do well in the 3 point shooting contest.

Some of the best shooters in NBA history were guys who could barely jump. The first one that comes to mind is Larry Bird.

Hopefully he will, Ive liked him since he came into the league. He hasn’t really had the minutes to prove how good he is. he also hasnt had a chance to settle down anywhere, hes been on 4 teams since he came into the league. if he got enough minutes he could be a nice complimentary player bordering on star status like josh howard in Dallas or maybe even Caron Butler in Washington

Gearld Green had way too many chances going back to the days when he first declared to attend Oklahoma State Univeristy. He’s a good guy on and off the court, but at this point, the only attribute keeping his game in the league is athletisicm.

Anyways, Green still has enourmous potential. Sam Young is older than him and just got drafted. Green has to go to the right team to emerge. He has had terrible shot selection because he forces bad shots in the limited minutes he gets to try to prove himself. He needs to go to a team like Golden State or New York and get his confidence back. I always have been, and still am on the Gerald Green bandwagon. He just needs the right situation.
