markfitz14ParticipantA blogger for the 76ers blog site took a 9 minute video March 4th of Embid working out with the conditioning coach. He is still huge, I can’t believe he gained so much weight with a foot injury. If the foot holds up he has monster Center strength at least. Link won’t post right so you will just have to check it out on You Tube. His jump shot looks really good and some nice little spin moves. His skill looks great in the video, looking forward to seeing some game action. 3pt shoot is a little short. The hook shot looks sweet too.
I wonder if he will be ready to play in the Vegas Summer League? I would think he would be fully healed easily by then by looking at what he is doing in this video.

Arc12345ParticipantI’m very impressed. He looks fluid and strong out there. I know it’s mostly just a shooting workout, but the offensive skill and touch is there.
If I were the sixers, and everyone is 100% healthy, I move Noel and roll with Okafor and Embiid. Everyone says they can’t play together, but I’ll take my chances. That’s a lot of strength and skill down low that not many teams will be able to stop. Get a solid wing player out there with them, and that’ll open up even more.
Perhaps Hinkie’s madness might pay off after all…

lalailaParticipantYeah, saw the video, there are some more already..
The kid is HUGE tall long strong and talented.. I’ll keep telling TALENT wise he can be as good as the best player in the league.
Ofcourse there is soooo much IFs with him and already almost two missed seasons.

Al PerezParticipantNo rush to trade any of those 3 if and when Embiid is healthy (I believe in him….I personally feel they looked long, long term with this pick and surgery procedures)….the foot is suppose to be right one schedule….his skill is top notch for a guy that big…he looks kind of like Greg Oden out there sighhhh….anyways I would actually be more interested in a lineup with Embiid and Noel out there than Embiid and Okafor…..but there is no rush to move any let Okafor and Noel start Embiid rotate in off the bench and Saric is your other option for the big man rotation…I would like to see them get Ingram have him at the 3 then if you get the Lakers pick go Jamaal Murray if you don’t well too bad….Embiid is going to be a stud let’s all pray he stays healthy and has a Zydrunas Ilgauskas type of recovery with his foot….has all the talent in the world…..him vs Towns will be fun….

circumlocution75ParticipantThis kid is the same dimensions as Rudy Gobert but 20 lbs heavier & w/ a smooth natural inside / outside game……. Phila’s GM claims they will Not play him in the Vegas summer League & I can’t say I blame them…… He’s waited this long – every bit of extra healing helps w/ a bone graft……
I agree w/ Al Perez….. Phila has so many 1st round draft picks over the next 3 Drafts they can literally draft 2 of every other position but Center…… It is so rare to have a 7 footer w/ Touch around the Rim & phila has Two of them…. It’s insane….. But until this kid plays a full season – maybe 2 – you can’t risk making a lateral move or worse – going backwards by trading Noel or Okafor unless it’s a Crazy package……
They should experiment w/ combinations & see if either Okafor or Noel can play the PF next to Embiid….. It’s hard to believe these guys are all Only 20, 21 & 22 years old….. If Phila somehow got Brandon Ingram & Jamal Murray (Lakers pick)……. they would just be standing at the 3 point line Jacking up wide open 3 Balls / or driving to the Rimn at will all game b/c teams Must collapse on Embiid & Okafor & Both can pass out of the double team……
Phila might be historically the Worst team in History this year……. It’s hard to believe there is Any cause for excitement about them……. But they have a chance to turn it around quickly…… It’s def a Very unique / Strange situation……

Hype MachineI agree that he’s looking jacked, but wouldn’t he want to stay as light as he can to reduce pressure on his feet and knees.
It would come at the cost of reduced strength, with the benefit of quickness and more importantly, lower injury risk.
Tim Duncan and KG for example have excellent longevity and they never carried any more muscle-mass than they had to.

HitsterParticipantApparently Philly aren’t looking to field Embiid in the summer league according to what a staff member said last week. They said he had surgery last August and when he had played in 2015 summer league, the previous surgery had been over a year earlier. So they want him to be ready to do a full pre-season and not risk any setbacks.

Can’t wait to see him make his debut. It’ll be fun to watch him go against Cousins.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantJust so skilled in a massive frame
He really could transform the perception around Philadelphia
He and Noel are most likely the best starting combo with Saric as the 6th Man type, we may have to Okafor as talented as he is, Joel just seems like a once a lifetime talent, Jahlil is going to be a very good Center too but Embiid can lock down the paint and extend his range behind the arc, there are maybe 5 players in the entire world that can play in the post and hit 3’s as well as Embiid could and he hasn’t touched an NBA floor yet officially…
I wouldn’t trade Okafor until I’m 100% sure Embiid can stay healthy, but when that moment comes watch out, Philadelphia will have become a contender, Hakeem 2.0 at best, Patrick Ewing at worst IMO

BiggaveliiiParticipantFoot injuries and big men, i think 76ers should atleast bring him of the bench in his first year back. They should bring him along slowly so his body can adjust. Foot injuries have serious long term effect and as much potential he has they need to make sure that hes in a good position to develop and succeed, so i dont think the 76ers should trade any of their big man anytime soon. Let him play around 20-25 mins a game. Hes going to produce offensively no doubt and his defense will be there thanks to his size and IQ.

MopgrassParticipantI hope he kept all his crazy mobility with all the muscle he built. He is huge, I hope he knows how to use it when it’s time.

Jerrell7ParticipantWhen he debuts he will be worth the wait. He will be shaq’s fav player by the midway point of next year. Ditto for Barkley. His Foot Is fine. I’m thinking of getting season tickets. This team will rise as Cleveland falls to remind them of that mistake they made on draft night.

MatosParticipantDurant was and is light as a feather. Something about the bulkiness after the inury for Embiid is unsettling, but yes – if he pans out 100% healthy not only will the team get better (considering Saric and the draft picks coming), but they can get into a winning culture and eventually attract a superstar if not build their own. Either way, its at least a step up from this season.
Side note: I know there are a lot of "Ifs" floating around but since it is likely the Lakers keep their pick this year, if they are equally or nearly as bad next year, Sixers could have two lottery picks in a much more talented draft. Scary thought.

HitsterParticipantEmbiid will be managed very carefully if or when he gets back to playing after not playing for the best part of 2.5 years bar a few Summer League games, he cannot be expected to suddenly go into an 82 game season and play major minutes.
I’d guess they build him up slowly during pre-season, get him into rotation for opening night and then increase his role from there. He may not play some back to backs either too. I fully expect him to come from the bench if Noel and Okafor are both fit and still in-situ. But he can be built up to good minutes as the season goes on.
This time next year I just hope Embiid is sound and has played over 50 NBA games.

Mr. 19134ParticipantEmbiid actually looks fluid and skilled enough to play PF. I know for certain ig Noels cant play with play Okafor on offense he def cant play with Embiid cuz Okafor is already as far advanced offensively as you hope Embiid will be.
The best course of action is to build around Embiid and Okafor and just surround them with shooters and hope to get a dynamic guard.

MatosParticipantThe notion that Noel can’t play with Okafor is mostly due to the fact that offensively, neither of the two can knock down a shot from outside of the paint or hit free throws at an acceptable rate. That is magnified when you have a player like Noel who is offensively retarded. Embiid adds a little spacing.

HitsterParticipantOakfor plays in the paint on offence and Noel doesn’t really have a mid range shot as yet whilst Embiid does. It’s almost like you want Oak and Emb on offence and Emb and Noel on defence!
Seriously though when Embiid and Oakafor play together I think Embiid will play PF on offence but might play more C on defence if Oakafor’s defence doesn’t improve. You almost gamble that if quicker PF’s get by the Oak then the Emb is waiting to guard the paint.
