OhCanada-ParticipantEarly in the 1st half of the LSU/Kentucky game he is having his best game yet. He has shown his offensive polish and defensive skills with a nice low post turnaround hook shot and about 3 impressive blocks and has altered about 8 shots.
His problem is one on one defense, boxing out and chasing loose balls. In those areas he is absolutely atrocious.

BleedGreen808ParticipantHis lack of strength is what really hurts him in the post offensively and defensively. It also makes it hard for him to get and hold position for rebounds. However, I really like what he’s shown early in this game because you can see the talent he has. A nice turnaround hook shot, mid-range jumper and he’s making an impact with his shotblocking.

Hype MachineSkals been hypped for this ever since Simmons sucker punched him in the guts during their last meeting.
We might even see Skalandjamal make a comeback if he keeps this up.

Sewok15ParticipantI have been one of his many critics but it is nice to finally see him play like the guy that was projected so high.
Apparently Coach Cal didn’t like the way he practiced yesterday and said he was going to "talk" with him before the game so whatever he said worked I guess. If he plays like this going forward with the guard play UK has you have to at least consider them as a team to make a Final Four run.

MopgrassParticipantI never thought he’d be a top 2 pick like many suggested, but top 8 or 9 is within reason.

Hype MachineFunny to hear UK fan giving Simmons a hard time about failing ‘Introductory Gumbo Making’ and ‘Alligator Wrangling 101’ at LSU…
Carmello Anthonys NCAA record for lowest GPA has been beaten.
Strange irony that the least successful student is a few weeks away from being its most successful professional.

Hype MachineI heard your mines were getting closed down. Apparently they ran out of gold a long time ago and all theyve produced in recent memory is fossilized goats.

OhCanada-ParticipantFor the most part you guys are pretty quick to change judgement. That’s a bad trait. People were bashing the heck out of Skal for no real reason other than poor play from a freshman. Threads saying he is a flat out terrible player, all time greatest bust (before even being drafted), and even saying he has a better chance winning the Powerball Lottery than getting selected in the draft lottery. Now its all good?
Tisk..tisk..tisk.. Shame on you nbadraft.net community.

ZachAttackParticipantNever liked him… still don’t.
He just doesn’t look NBA Ready to me. He’s too skinny and he looks really awkward out on the court imo…
He’s not gonna be able to do what a lot of NBA centers can do. And that’s something that teams aren’t gonna want.

ZachAttackParticipantOn a side note… Man do I love Jamal Murray. I think he could be a top 3 player out of this draft. He’s that good

TarHeelRavenParticipantIt’s been a LONG LONG process for Skal. I’ve been very critical of him in recent posts. It’s not his fault he was overhyped by recruiting analysts. His high school career was non-existent and he had no business being the top ranked player in his class. In terms of being a lottery pick, I mean he has talent and could contribute down the road, but I see him being at least 4-5 years away. Lottery teams are usually looking for guy to contribute right away. I’d take him late in the first round so he could go to a playoff team and develop him slowly. Imagine what Pop could do with him. You could say that about most guys with the Spurs though. He desperatley needs to stay in school in my opinion. I worry that the NBA factory hype at Kentucky will go to his head and he’ll come out and end up in Europe or in the D-League in a year.
