BleedGreen808ParticipantHow much would we be talking about San Antonio right now if Golden State wasn’t on this historic pace? While all the headlines are about the Warriors, the Spurs were only 3.5games behind them heading into tonight. After San Antonio’s win in New Orleans they are now 52-9. They did not play a great game tonight but still put together an excellent 4th quarter on both ends of the court.
This Spurs team is great on offense and defense leading the league in point differential at +12.5(104.7PPG while allowing 92.2PPG). They are 1st in defensive efficiency(95.5) and 3rd in offensive efficiency(109.2). Throughout this season the Warriors and Spurs have been a notch above the rest of the league. Although the first game ended up being a blowout in the Warriors favor they will still play three more regular season games against each other. If the Spurs win those they could end up 1st in the West. I still think Golden State is the team to beat but the Spurs are clearly the 2nd best team in the league.
Kawhi Leonard is probably the best two way player in the league right now and Aldridge has been a great fit as well. Like the Warriors the Spurs have a deep roster with players that complement their stars. Both the Warriors and Spurs are having a great season and it should make for a great conference finals barring any injuries or upsets. It’s just too bad they couldn’t match up in the finals.

tblazer_NZParticipantThey aren’t an attention seeking team.
If the Warrioirs don’t break the record then if will likely be in a large part because of the Spurs, neither team has lost at home yet. I agree with all your statements.
I just hope my Blazers don’t have to play either in the first round.

BleedGreen808ParticipantLove what the Blazers are doing this season by staying in the playoff picture despite losing 4 starters. Lillard has been great and CJ McCollum has to be the MIP this year. They’ll have to get into the 6th seed to avoid the Warriors and Spurs.

HitsterParticipantWe are all raving about GSW but I’d never right the Spurs off in a play off series especially with their home record. If anyone could stop Steph Curry it could be Coach Pop, the Spurs will slow the pace down and not turn it into a free flowing, free scoring game GSW like.
I still back GSW but the Spurs can make it tough for them.

EspressoParticipantThe spurs are just ridiculous. New teams come and go but Pop always manages to stay at the top.
We are witnessing history with Pop and his crew. He is the GOAT coach
Noted, Spurs constantly remain leaders of both, offense and defense

Hype MachineYeah I like the different options the Spurs can throw at Curry.
Leonard for length, Mills is dogged and will harass, Green can lockdown etc.

HitsterParticipantPopp will certainly have strategies to try and curb Step Curry MVP. Step won’t just be able to take a step back and make his 3 point shots as he seemed to be doing at will on occasions this season.
