Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me if he’s really hoping for a Title run.  There are question markes around Bosh’s health and the Heat aren’t getting past the Cavs even with Johnson.

If the Cavs were offering, you’d have to wonder why he didn’t choose them.

Agree with you, Bosh have been with blood problems, aging Wade, sure he can help, but his talents would have beem much useful on a title contender

I don’t understand this, he could have went to the thunder or raptors and played 25 to 30 minutes a night and had a chance at the conference finals or NBA finals. The Raptors are a Lebron injury away from the NBA finals. Same with the thunder, if curry, green or thompson gets hurt the west is wide open.

Seems there is a group of players in the NBA who don’t really want to play with Lebron. I guarantee Johnson has done some battling through the years with James at a very high level. Going to essentially play for him after a career of competing against him could be tough. That’s why KG gave so much hate towards Allen signing with the Heat. A lot of players who’s prime were shadowed by Lebron have signed with Miami, the Clippers, or the Spurs instead of the Cabs to be in a veteran culture and contend.

I’m just curious why he wouldn’t go back to Atlanta?

Joe Johnson wanted to be in Miami, and who could blame the guy.. Beautiful Weather, Beautiful Women.. He’ll probably resign for a smaller deal due to the fact hes going to be happy with all the extras that come with playing with the MIAMI HEAT.

Joe Johnson knew that going to Cleveland wouldnt be the best move for his career.. I think LeBron has turned that Locker Room into High School Lunch Tables if you understand where im coming from.. it just doesnt come off as an professional envoirment.  Miami Heat run a very tight ship, its part of the reason why LeBron left.

Of course a thread like this turns into an unsubstantiated Lebron bashing party.  Lebron is about as professional as you can get but don’t let facts get in the way of your story.

While we’re bashing the king…against the raps today.

Cavs down  by 2…Lebron goes for the game winning 3 (shoots sub 30%) instead of attacking the rim (Shoots 60%+)

        AIRBALL

Hes statistically the worst 3pt shooter in the league! Great play Cavs….

    Makes no sense to me.

The Heat can offer a roster with fast declining injured stars and a coach who can’t do anything without James.

Also not sure he’ll have much more playing time in Miami compared to his other suitors with Wade, Winslow and Deng (and also Green) playing meaningful minutes on the wing.

With Bosh out for the season, the Heat has the same chance for a title as the Nets… Zero.

Yes, sunshine, chicks, but basketball-wise that’s a bad decision.

Pat Riley is clearly a leading member of the illuminati. This signing should come off as no surprise.

Without Bosh the Heat could not be considered any sort of real contenders, they were more a team that I thought Johnson might have played his career out in after literally taking what he thought was the best chance of a title this year.

But as Robb C said above, Miami is one of the nicest places to be based so Joe may be looking at a lifestyle choice as much as a career one. Does anyone know if he has any family connections with Miami as that could be a reason to go there.

Strange move.  Maybe he just likes warm places, as he isn’t going to a team with a chance now.  They don’t have money for him for the future either.

They can use his shooting, but that doesn’t mean big minutes.  They are paying Deng a lot and need to play Winslow is the future, and Wade is the shooting guard, so Johnson doesn’t have a great spot there.

Some contenders miss out on depth, Nets save some money, next up is Kevin Martin.

Honestly, Joe never struck me as a win-first kind of guy. He’s always been about that money. Remember a few years ago when he had a bigger salary than most of the future Hall of Famers? His contract was regarded as one of the worst of all time. It may be as simple as the Heat had more benefits to offer.
